Toastmasters Interest Group eulogy at a family member's or friend's funeral/Memorial, saying something at a grand or great grand child's Christening/ Bris, and other "Special Occasions." Everyone is invited to attend and visit, have some pizza, chat with friends and make some new ones, then sit back and relax while you listen to some of your fellow neighbors, Toastmasters from other chapters, and Toastmaster Dignitaries give their appropriate speeches of approximately six to seven minutes, each. I certainly hope you find our new changes are of benefit to you, as this was our intent, and gets you to drive over, walk or bicycle over to the Lodge on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and just visit with us. I promise, there will not be any pressure for you to join our group, it's totally your decision to determine if Toastmasters is for you. We will educate you in the many ways Toastmasters offers different benefits to different people, but the Open House's primary focus is to help educate you via our speeches, let you have a lovely, relaxing evening out, and either order your own snack/dinner from Smitty's or join us for a slice or two of the Bistro's yummy pizza and possible add-ons. Info., (951) 992-9156 home or (602) 309-0919 cell. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman Toastmasters, Wind Talkers, located in Four Seasons, Beaumont, has changed from weekly meetings to twice monthly, the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month, in the Conference Room in the Lodge. This way, if you want to participate in other activities, go right ahead. All we ask of our members is to "try" to attend at least one meeting a month. If you're not sure if you want to join, all of our meetings are open to guests. Come when you want, participate only if you want to. After a few to several "guest" meetings, that you've chosen to attend, it should be an easier decision, for you. So, if you want to get rid of your mild to serious "GLOSSOPHOBIA," which is the utter fear of public speaking, we at Wind Talkers chapter, are only asking for a minimum of one hour out of 720 hours, in a typical average month. As I mentioned in September's issue of the Breeze, Wind Talkers, is very excited and proud to announce our first ever, Invitational Open House "Special Occasion" Speech Meeting, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 5:45 to 6:29 pm for pizza and socializing with the meeting starting promptly at 6:30 pm. All of the speeches are based on "Special Occasions" such as making a toast to a child, grandchild, best friend at their wedding, a Counter Culture Cinema We're doing something different for our two screenings in October: we've got a theme! We invite you to join us for the screenings, with stimulating discussion afterwards. Our first October screening, on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 6 pm, is the classic Jack Nicholson film The Shining (1980, 146 minutes, English). Here is a brief description from IMDB. com: "A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future." You may recall this famous Stanley Kubrick film, based on the novel by Stephen King, whose sequel to The Shining was just published. Our second October screening, on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 6 pm, is a new documentary about Kubrick's film, Room 237 (2012, 102 min., English). Here is a description from IMDB.com: "A subjective documentary that explores the numerous theories about the hidden meanings within Stanley Kubrick's film The Shining (1980). The film may be over 30 years old but it continues to inspire debate, speculation, and mystery. Five very different points of view are illuminated through voice over, film clips, animation and dramatic reenactments. Together they'll draw the audience into a new maze, one with endless detours and dead ends, many ways in, but no way out." The Lodge theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early. We hope to see you there!
