EXCURSIONS Sign-ups begin for the Recreation Department excursions on Oct. 1, at 8 am, in the Rec. Dept. offices. PLEASE NOTE! Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you Because it's Christmas at the Candlelight Pavilion. Thurs., Dec. 5, 10:15 am – 4:45 pm, $78 pp includes dinner & show. For the past 28 years the Candlelight Pavilion has presented 28 original, family-friendly Christmas stories with all the joy and magic you would expect of the holiday season. This year we continue that tradition with a heartwarming story that will surely melt the hardest of hearts. It is there that the true magic of Christmas is found, in the smiling faces and twinkling eyes of those who believe in the miracle of Christmas. You will enjoy a Candlelight Cuisine in an elegant setting, and a musical featuring a professional cast. At the conclusion of the show there is also a photo opportunity with the big guy himself, so don't forget your camera. Join us as we celebrate the holidays at the Candlelight Pavilion with love, hope, and a little Santa magic! Huntington Harbor Cruise of Lights Thurs., Dec. 19, 2:30 – 9 pm, $58 pp, buffet lunch included. Light up the holidays with an evening cruise through Huntington Harbor. The fun begins with a Motherlode Lunch Buffet at the Claim Jumper in Fountain Valley where you'll enjoy hearty portions of rotisserie chicken, prime rib, house salad, Caesar salad, whipped potatoes, roasted veggies, bread choice and a dessert buffet! You'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy dinner before heading to Huntington Harbor for the 51st Annual Cruise of Lights. Every December, the residents spend days decking the halls for all to see as they cruise by. Hundreds of exclusive homes, docks, decks, and boats are adorned with twinkling lights, mechanical displays and nativity scenes. The narrated cruise lasts approximately 50 minutes and the boat offers inside and outside viewing. Bundle up and grab your camera, we're off to see the lights of Christmas at Huntington Beach! Ronald Reagan Library "I Spy" & Christmas Trees Thurs., Dec. 12, 8 am – 5 pm, $38 pp (no-host lunch on site). This year, the annual Christmas Tree Exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum will showcase the great state of California! Featuring natural beauties and man-made attractions, the 24 trees will represent not only tourist attractions such as the cities of San Francisco and nearby Los Angeles, but also historical landmarks and national parks. There is also the Spy Exhibit featuring nearly 300 documents and spy gadgets, many of which have never been seen before, which unlock the mysterious world of espionage. "I Spy" parts the veil, inviting visitors into a secret world of patriots, spies, moles, traitors, and spy catchers. During your visit, become a spy with the exhibits numerous interactive stations that offer thrilling on-the-spot training for future spies of all ages! Please enjoy lunch (on own) in the library's Country Café. The café offers self-service and made to order items. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. waiting list policy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/ excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. We accept checks only (payable to Sun Lakes). All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified. We may open Excursions and Special Events to guests if numbers are low and the activity is in danger of being canceled. -Thank you!
