Explore Yucaipa! Campaign Promotes Tourism & Business An exciting feature has been added to the Yucaipa First! shop local program for the upcoming campaign. Over the years, the Yucaipa First! shop local program has focused its efforts on several types of marketing, including newspaper advertising, newspaper articles featuring selected businesses, web page promotions, direct mail, and the establishment of a "Rewards Card" program, all designed to highlight local businesses to the residents of the community. Now, Explore Yucaipa!, a dynamic tourism-based element of the program, has been added. Explore Yucaipa! is a marketing campaign aimed at expanding the trade area for Yucaipa's businesses. By promoting the community's recreational attractions, like the Wildwood Canyon State Park, El Dorado Ranch open space park, and the Crafton Hills, through the use of brochures and guides, Explore Yucaipa! is targeting hiking, biking, and horseback riding enthusiasts to the community. Other attractions and facilities, including the County Regional Park, Crafton Hills College Aquatic Center, the Community Park, Historic Uptown, etc., will also be promoted. These promotional materials will include local business coupons and are planned to be distributed to various sporting goods outlets, visitor centers, and tourismbased information centers throughout the region. In addition, a web-based version of the brochure, trail maps, and attractions will use video clips and photographs to highlight the types of activities and setting of each location. The intent of the brochures and web pages is to convey the fun, challenge, uniqueness, and broad enjoyment available to all age groups and levels of abilities in such a way that hopefully creates an urgency within the viewer to visit the attraction. All the 6 OUR YUCAIPA | OCTOBER 2013 | CHAMBER OF COMMERCE information is to be packaged as part of the "Explore Yucaipa!" campaign and "Things to do in Yucaipa" tourism concept. Paired with the "things to do" concept will be the coupon packages offered by the Shop Local program participants where the activity and the business is connected with a discounted special or offer of some type. A coupon book will be attached to the trail map brochure, for example, giving the visitor the use of both during their visit to Yucaipa. The "Things to do in Yucaipa" web page will feature an 'offer' link to a page hosted by the Chamber of Commerce where the actual business advertising and discounted offers will be available. The Explore Yucaipa! campaign is intended to not only attract regional visitors, but to encourage Yucaipa residents to explore the community's recreational opportunities, in some cases for the first time, as well as to explore the local shopping, dining, and services available. The new Explore Yucaipa! campaign is scheduled to start in early Spring of 2014. An introduction to this new feature of the program will be the focus of the annual Shop Local mixer celebrating the Yucaipa First! campaign kick-off on Oct. 8, at Yucaipa's Community Center beginning at 5:30 pm. The event will provide information about how the Explore Yucaipa! Campaign will operate and how local businesses can participate and benefit. All of the elements of the Explore Yucaipa! feature are included in the price of the Yucaipa First! membership, which is $50 for non-Chamber members. Yucaipa's shop local program is administered through the partnerships of the city, chamber, and the News Mirror.
