Finance Committee At the September meeting, the Financial Statements for August were reviewed and reflected the following significant items: Net Income Year-toDate was $154,328 and total reserves were $3,767,690. The Accounts Receivable (delinquencies) was $62,725. Our total HOA expenses for August (excluding reserve allocations) were $254,259. This was under budget by $20,822. There were no Certificates of Deposit renewals to be reviewed. The Front Yard Cost Center expenses for August were over the monthly budget by $7,307. Water was the main contributing factor. There were three Vendor Proposal presented for approval. Wayne Staples reported on the past due accounts for 13 current owners and seven former owners The Front Yard Cost Center Budget for 2014 was discussed and a recommendation was submitted for Board approval. On Sept. 29 a special meeting of the Finance Committee was held and the Springdale Cost Center Budget for 2014 was the topic of discussion. Glennon Gray, Euclid Management President, gave several options available that would help to form a budget that would address the low reserve balance. After further discussion a recommendation was submitted for Board approval. Both recommendations were approved at the Board's October meeting (see story on p. 8). Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be held Nov. 26 at 1pm in the Lodge Conference Room. All homeowners are encouraged to attend. ~ Noel Myers Landscape Committee Event Systems Four Seasons has iconic plants in the traffic circles that characterize our geography. The entrance circles off Potrero and Highland Springs identify our community with desert cactuslike plants while the center circle at Mesa Verde is topped with a tall mountain cedar. While growing well, both types of plants have needed attention. The entrance plants are really agaves which are succulents and not cacti. They require little water and become very large. There is a single irrigation system for the outlying pots and the center pot. The outer pots have colorful seasonal flowers and require ample water. The agave not only became too large for its pot but the water flow could not be restricted as it was buried under the root system. The agaves were removed, the pipe extended to the top of the pot and grasses planted temporarily. New small agaves will be planted and replaced every five to six years in the future. The cedar in the other traffic circle is a Deodar pine. These are native to the Himalayan Mountains. Their natural shape is not conical but more like a haystack with a towhead top. Our tree had dead branches at the top when we accepted it from the builder. After an inspection by an arborist, it was decided to cut off the dead branches and wait to see if the tree would survive. The tree seems to be doing well now and our landscaper will trim the top to give it a more conical shape. The Landscape Committee has openings for interested volunteers. Plant knowledge is not required as we have landscape professionals. What is needed is the desire to walk around the community and report on the status of plant life and any unusual growth. ~ Len Tavernetti Home Tours sponsored by the ESC have become a very popular event in Four Seasons, as well as a lucrative fund raiser for the community. We are pleased to announce the date of Saturday, Dec. 14, for our Annual Holiday Home Tour. Please mark your calendar for this fun event. If you would like to have your home considered for participation in this fun event or for more information in general, please contact Teri DiMarino-Davidson at (951) 769-4345 or k9styler@aol. com. There are many new residents who have moved into the neighborhood in recent months and we would like to tap your talents! If you are looking for something rewarding to do that doesn't take a lot of your time, please consider volunteering with the ESC. Our job is setting up and monitoring of the audio and visual equipment used in Amphitheater and Ballroom productions. This includes the sound boards and stage. If you would like to join our team please contact Roland Harrah at (951) 845-1734 or rolandthanh@msn.com. ~ Teri DiMarino-Davidson Deador pines Community News | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2013 17
