big band dance On Sat., Nov. 23, we present our traditional "Black and White Ball" in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Wear whatever you feel is appropriate. Last year most of the men wore suits or tuxes. There will be black top hats, black table clothes and white napkins. More and more residents are discovering the thrill of dancing to the sound of a big band. Sometimes you don't have to dance you can just sit back and enjoy the music and wax nostalgic. Among the members of the band there are duets, trios, and instrumental solos. Add Nannette with her show stopping voice and you've got an evening to remember. Sign-ups will be Wed., Nov. 13, from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room with table selection at 1:15 pm. Member price $30; guests $33. Bring checks to sign-ups or mail/ drop off at 1298 Green Island Street. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Dinner service at 6:15 pm. Dinner will be a buffet carving station of beef and turkey served by our excellent restaurant staff. Au jus for the beef and gravy with cranberry sauce for the turkey will be provided. Of course, we have mashed potatoes, green beans, a dinner salad with choice of two dressings, rolls and carrot cake for dessert to round out the menu. Info., Sheila Hammer, 845-0484 or Ted Grady, 845-0359. 80s plus club We were treated to a special day of entertainment by a youth group called "The Enchanted Theater Performers," directed by their very professional choreographers, JZ Flories and Danica McCory. While we are off Broadway by approximately 3,000 miles, we felt we were right there. The very energetic performers ignited the South Clubhouse into a large stage with music from "Annie," "The Sound of Music" and "Les Miserables." Oh to be young again. November is catered and is by reservation only. Call Diana by Oct. 31. We meet the second Saturday of the month at the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. Spouses and caregivers are welcome. For info., call Barb 845-7904 or Carol 769-7382. country western dance As usual we will be keeping busy as we move into the Holiday season. For our November dances we will have our first on Fri., Nov. 8. All our dances are in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 7 to 9 pm. Our second dance this month will be back to our traditional Friday after Thanksgiving. That is Fri., Nov. 29. After an exhausting day at the mall, come and have a relaxing time dancing off a few more calories. To make this dance extra special we are going to make this a FREE night, but we will be collecting donations for our traditional "Holiday Wish Program." We know that you will have a few Holiday dollars to contribute this year just as you have been most generous in previous years. Our line dance instruction will be in the South Clubhouse on Mondays, Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 26 from 7 to 8:30 pm. Couples instruction will be on Tuesday, November 12 and 26, from 7 – 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. Don't forget about the New Year's Eve dance at the North Clubhouse.
