TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) December is here and the holiday season is upon us, which can be an especially vulnerable time of the year for anyone focused on healthy weight management. Lots of club parties and family gatherings often present an array of tasty temptations that can be difficult to resist. This year can be different and enjoyable at the same time! TOPS offers some tips to get through the holidays. • Practice portion control. • Plan your menu to include salads and lots of vegetables. • Use a luncheon-sized plate for your meal. • Eat breakfast – studies have shown that eating breakfast curbs the urge to binge later in the day. Following these tips can make it a little easier. TOPS is here to provide the support members need during the holidays and throughout the year. We invite you to visit our TOPS chapter one time free of charge. We meet on Thursdays at the South Clubhouse with weigh-ins starting at 9 am and meeting from 10 to 11 am. Come and join us! Our Christmas Holiday party will be held on Dec. 12, catered by Thomas Catering. For the purpose of this challenge 30 minutes of moderate exercise will also be considered one mile. Last month our TOPS members supported and participated in the Veterans Walk to honor all who have served our country. What a great project!
