young at heart Welcome to December, perhaps the busiest month of the year. We are gearing up for the final event, the annual New Year's Eve party. Those of you who were able to get your reservation in on time have a very enjoyable evening ahead. And please note… for those of you who were not among the first 96 folks to get your check in, there is always a wait list available. Hang in there, as those on that list usually succeed in getting into the party. Beginning at 7:30 pm, attendees will be mingling and getting seated in the South Clubhouse until 8 pm, when dinner will be served. Guests will enjoy tri-tip or lemon herb chicken, rice, vegetables, green salad and ambrosia salad, with peach cobbler for dessert. Ricky B and the Stingers will be performing for the evening and helping everyone ring in 2014! To help you plan for next year's events, a brief summary of what's in store is as follows: Jan. 19: NFL Chili and Salsa Cook-off at the North Clubhouse; contact is Bob Walter, 845-2002. Feb. 16: Valentine Dinner Dance at the South Clubhouse, 5 pm, with dinner served at 5:30 pm. Skyline Express will provide listening and dancing music for the evening. The cost is $17.50 pp, and is to be paid to Barb Asaro at 1030 Oakland Hills, 845-6475. As the event gets closer, you will be notified when Barb will start accepting checks. Those wishing to sit together must submit all checks together. The menu for the evening will be Chicken Cordon Bleu, rice, vegetables, bread, and dessert. Mar. 22: A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock 'n Roll is the theme for this event at the South Clubhouse. There will chorale It's a Sun Lakes Holiday Tradition! Over 100 of your friends and neighbors will entertain you with a joyous program of both classic and popular Christmas songs as well as Hanukkah favorites. Fri., Dec. 6 at 7 pm Sat., Dec. 7 at 7 pm Sun. Matinee, Dec. 8 at 3 pm. Director, Bob Jensen, accompanist, Kristin Chemistruck. Tickets are on sale in Main Clubhouse lobby weekdays 9 am to 3 pm. Adults are $8 and children under 12 years of age are $4. If there are any remaining tickets they will be sold at the door of each concert. The South Clubhouse will be utilized for this event. May 4: The Fiesta party at the South Clubhouse, contact is Irene Eichel, 7697078. Jun. 12: Duffy Boat Ride is back by popular demand! Our guy overseeing this fun event is Bob Cain at 845-4720. We will be dark July and August. Watch for further information on all these events in the upcoming Lifestyles magazines. Dues are $10 pp, payable to Michele Walter at 4713 Skyview Circle. Dues paid in December will cover the remainder of 2013 along with all of 2014. Happy Holidays to everyone.
