Golf Club From Dave Cometa, President: With Thanksgiving past and Christmas on its heels, wow, what happened to this year? We have had three banquets, two BBQs, four major tournaments and just an all around good and fun year. Our membership has grown nearly 10 percent this year and our golf course is looking better than it has in years. Yes, we do have a lot to be thankful for but the thing I am most thankful for is your friendship and the support you have given to me and to our club throughout this year. I am also thankful for the support during our Fund Raising Tournament held in October. Through this tournament you have given $2,600 to date, which will go to our fireman fund or to local groups who helps us here at Four Seasons every day. Thank you one and all. And last but not least, my congratulations to our Club Champions for 2013. Our Low Net Winners are: Joe Richmond "A" Flight, Kelly Collier "B" Flight, Chaz McManis "C" Flight and Ken Pounders "D" Flight. Our Low Gross Winners are, Cliff Post "A" Flight, Dr. Mike Webster "B" Flight, Hal Rowden "C" Flight and Kevin Snider "D" Flight. Joe Richmond and Cliff Post will go on to represent our club next month in Palm Springs playing against other club champions. I know that Cliff will give them a great fight and Joe will keep them laughing in the fairways. Go get em boys! From Addis Scott, Tournament Chair: To play in our Tuesday games, you may sign up at our prior golf event, or sign-up on the sheet located in the Game Room at the Lodge, by 12 noon on Sunday. For cancellation or late sign-up, please contact Scotty at (951) 926-6131, or by e-mail at AddisScott9@aol.com. Our upcoming schedule is: • Dec. 3, 8 am: Balanced Mixed Flight Teams – Two Best Net Scores Per Hole • Dec. 10, 8 am: T's & F's (Holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, 13, 14) – Net Score By Flight • Dec. 17, 8 am: O.N.E.S. If you haven't, please contact me (below) to ensure we have your correct e-mail address. If you miss the Dec. 11, renewal deadline, you will be required to submit a New Member Application to re-activate your SCGA membership. Now is an excellent time for new members to join our club since your membership will be good for the rest of 2013 and all of 2014. New member applications are available from the Lodge receptionist. If you have any questions about joining our club or renewing your membership, please contact Gary Jones at (951) 926-0353 or e-mail: jones.gf@verizon.net. From Cliff Post, Rules Chair: Golf should only have three rules: 1. Hit ball; 2. Find ball; 3. Hit ball But, alas, we have many, many rules. When playing in our Tuesday matches we need to play by the same rules. One area that we really need to all handle the same is our local rule that we could lift clean and place in fairways only. Play the ball down in the rough. No touching the ball in the rough. It's only fair. From Larry Cover, Social Chair: The final social event of 2013 was held Nov. 9, in the Lodge Ballroom, with 160 members and guests present. A "Back to the 50s" theme, with decorations on table centerpieces and other areas throughout the Ballroom gave the event an air of nostalgia. Many guests dressed as they did in the 50s and prizes were given to Becki Kenney and Ross Thomas for Best 50's Attire. Judges for the contest were Dale Brockett and Kelly and Sharon Collier. 50s music played during the evening as cleverly prepared videos by David Cometa were shown and enjoyed by all, especially the members with photos from years ago. The chipping contest was a tie between Russ Brown and Ross Thomas. Putting contest winners were Diane Jenkins, Kay Scales, Chaz McManis, and Jay Robinson. David Cometa presented awards to several tournament winners from our recent tournaments. Hemet Fire Captain Steve Sanderfer and his wife were present to accept a check for over $2600 from Club President David Cometa, which Captain Sanderfer said would be used to purchase life saving equipment for the fire department. Francisco's Catering prepared an evening of excellent dining for our guests serving tri tip beef, chicken marsala and pasta primavera, which was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the volunteers who have helped this past year to make our events a success and to the Club Board for their support. 2014 social events will be directed by the soon-to-be elected President and his appointed Social Chairman.
