EXCURSIONS Sign-ups begin for the Recreation Department excursions on Feb. 3, at 8 am, in the Rec. Dept. offices. PLEASE NOTE! Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you Bagels, Baseball & Bottlecaps Tues., April 15, 7:45 am - 6:15 pm, $56 pp. Enjoy an AllAmerican day out with friends on our fun "Bagels, Baseball, and Bottlecaps" tour! It begins with a stop at the Brooklyn Bagel Bakery for fresh baked bagels, cream cheese, and juice. The Brooklyn Bakery still makes bagels the traditional way by boiling them before they are baked. After visiting the bakery, you're off to Dodger Stadium. You'll embark on a behind-thescenes tour that lets fans visit some of the most restricted and non-public areas. Highlights of this 90 minute tour include a trip down to the field, a visit into the Dodger Dugout, and an exclusive look at the Dugout Club – a VIP restaurant and lounge located behind home plate and home to two World Series Trophies. After touring the stadium, you'll travel to Old Pasadena where you'll have time for lunch on your own. Choices include Pechanga Resort & Casino Wed., April 2, 8 am – 4 pm. $5 pp with $5 easy play money. Spend five hours at Pechanga Resort and Casino. The casino's well planned layout allows guests to move easily among the 3,000+ slot and video machines and over 130+ table games. Cocktail service is available to guests on the gaming floor with several bars, lounges, and restaurants close to the casino floor action. Make it a lucky day at Pechanga! Government issued ID required everything from popular restaurants, to fast food, to fine dining. The final stop of the day is at Galco's Soda Pop Stop. People come from around the globe to visit the store that offers more than 400 different kinds of soda pop. You may have seen the store featured on PBS's "Visiting with Huell Howser: and the Food Channel's "Unwrapped" series. Knott's Berry Farm "Pathways to the Past" guided tour Wed., April 23, 8 am – 4 pm, $45 pp includes lunch. Step back into time to the early days of Knott's Berry Farm and come with us on a 2 hr & 15 minute leisurely paced walking tour. It is called "Pathways to the Past". You'll recall the Old West and the Knott family heritage with a walk through Ghost Town. The tour includes a visit to the blacksmith shop, the school house, the restored train cars, and you will witness a sit down storytelling performance at Mystery Lodge. And of course a trip to Knott's wouldn't be complete without Mrs. Knott's famous fried chicken! After lunch you'll have time for some shopping at Virginia's, the Knott's granddaughter's original collectibles & gift shop. You'll find a bakery shop, jams, jellies, teas, books and specialty gifts. Get those walking shoes out and grab your bottled water and come along on a very interesting tour of "Pathways to the Past." If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. waiting list policy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/ excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. We accept checks only (payable to Sun Lakes). All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified.
