Although we may never experience a magnitude 8.0 earthquake or other major disasters in our area during our lifetimes, our goal is to plan for such events. One of our objectives is to provide educational opportunities for disaster training to the community at large. Another goal is to enhance our self sufficiency. To this end, we are in the process of developing an Emergency Resource Database as a component of a practical Emergency Plan for our community. So, what's your stake in all of this? It surely takes a community to recover from a disaster. In the event of a large scale emergency, the sad reality is that our local police and fire agencies will likely be overwhelmed and unable to respond rapidly. We cannot reasonably expect to get immediate help from our otherwise excellent first responders. It is imperative that we enhance our self sufficiency. That's where you come in. You owe it to yourselves, your families, and the community at large to be prepared for emergencies. Remember, "failing to plan is planning to fail." We urge you to become a part of the solution!
