COMMUNITY NEWS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2014 9 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel remember that daylight saving Time begins at 2 am on sunday, March 9. Turn your clocks ahead an hour. don't forget the clocks in your car and your watches, too. it is also time to clean out the closets and garages. With the hoa yard sale just around the corner and the advent of spring, we need to free up some space in our homes. The date for the hoa garage/Lodge sale is april 26. have your "ex-treasures" ready for someone else to buy and love. (sorry, but it doesn't include ex-spouses!) The City of Beaumont has included a brochure in your sewer and refuse bill reminding the community that we share space with a variety of wildlife. Bobcats, coyotes, rabbits and many other small creatures were here before the housing boom started. They are still here, albeit in a slightly smaller habitat. We need to co-exist with them. Tips from the California department of Fish and Wildlife include: do not leave pet food outside. do not feed any wildlife, even the smaller animals because they can attract larger, less desirable animals to your property. Close your garbage cans. if you do encounter a potentially dangerous animal, yell at it, make a whistle or horn noise, spray it with a water hose or throw tennis balls at it. (isn't it amazing how useful tennis balls are? They can not only hang down from your garage ceiling to let you know the car is in far enough, they can also be put on the bottoms of walkers to lessen the impact on the cement. Now you can use them also as weapons of defense!) on the fourth Thursday of every month, from 10 to 11 am, Beaumont City offers a discussion to teach residents about their cars. information on repair issues, buying a new car or any automotive issue will be provided by robert snyder, California department of Consumer affairs, Bureau of automotive repair. No appointment is needed. Bring your questions. The deadline for applying to run for one of the two Board of directors seats available is March 9. district delegates have been selected for each of the Four seasons 13 districts. Ballots should be mailed to homeowners in late March. Watch for the Meet the Candidates night date so that you can hear and ask questions of the Board candidates. Ballots will be counted at a delegates' Meeting on april 15. Be active in your community. return your vote so that you can be counted! if you have not taken a drive or walk along Four seasons Boulevard past the roundabout, it would be interesting to add that to your schedule. Not only is the second Lodge lot getting ready for forms, but there are several other huge lots which are being graded and sectioned off for homes. Look for the distinctive orange plastic fences and marvel at how many new neighbors we are going to have. The housing market seems to be improving more than we are aware of. Fun thoughts from my george Carlinisms list: daylight saving time — why are they saving it and where do they keep it? Why is it that night falls but day breaks? Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour? at the February open session Board meeting, the Board of directors approved the following committee recommendations: • Landscape request to remove 15 eucalyptus trees along the Four seasons Circle and install 5 Chinese elms ($1,925) • Landscape request for plant and irrigation improvements on the Tinkers Creek Park slope ($1,950) • Landscape request for plant and rock improvements on the springdale slope ($12,040) • safety/Facilities proposal to purchase a new podium with audio capabilities ($1,200) • social Committee 2014 event calendar • social Committee request for advance funds for the spring Tea and Fashion show ($300) The Board of directors reviewed and acted upon the following business matters: • december 2013 unaudited Financial statement – reviewed • ratified members to the 2014 inspectors of election • approved the purchase of three coffee urns ($225) • approved the 2014 Lodge holiday hours • approved waiving the facility use fee for the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce - state of the City • approved the purchase of a banner for the Neighborhood Watch ($45) • approved the purchase of cards for the game room ($319) • approved the vendor bid for asphalt repairs ($1,250) • approved the purchase of neoprene hand weights for the aerobics room ($480) • approved the vendor bid to install self contained air fresheners in the facility restrooms ($250) • approved the vendor bid for a revised proposal for two rail vinyl fencing (Total $7,285) • approved the Chavurah & havdalah group and the Women's Bid Whist group Management reported to the Board the completion of the following items: • Bistro kitchen water heater closet repairs • Bistro kitchen floor drains hydro jetted • Tennis courts resurfaced • Cottonwood tree removal along highland springs Trail • Lodge parking lot plant replacement Management reported that 18 violation letters were sent out during November • 17 for maintenance • one for hoses The Board of directors suspended facility privileges for one member for delinquent dues, bringing the total for suspended privileges to 10 current members. FArEWEll to Four sEAsons eight and a half years ago i started my position for the K. hovnanian's Four seasons at Beaumont. Many of the members who have lived in the community from the start up remember meeting me in the garage of the Laurel's model where i was set up to meet and greet with new and potential residents. as the on-site general Manager i have enjoyed serving the members of the community and being part of the growth of the community. We have seen many changes together; however, it is now time for me to continue my career journey and i will be leaving the Four seasons at the end of February. i want to thank the many residents who i have worked with on committees, for events, for projects and just stopped to chat with here in the Lodge, for your kindness and participation. Most importantly, i wish to thank Jacque, Loren and Wayne for their support and dedication to the community as your Board members. you have all made it a joy and a privilege to be part of this community! i leave you in the very capable hands of Jeri Mupo who has been with euclid Management Company for the past 20 years. Take good care of the Four seasons Community Jeri! 8 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2014 | COMMUNITY NEWS • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Manager's Update By Lisa Lynn, General Manager
