Contact steve Bennoff at steve.benoff@verizon.net or (310) 413-4896. ~ Steve Benoff it's been said that music heals the heart but it also promotes healthy aging. studies of choruses have found an improved quality of life among older choir members. another study has concluded that older adults who sang in a chorus for one year had fewer falls, fewer doctor visits and less loneliness than those in a control group. singing allows people to use their bodies and minds while creating something beautiful. (studies conducted by Julene K. Johnson at the university of Ca, san Francisco; georgetown university and studies in Finland.) We'll be back in april to start rehearsals for the Fourth of July event. Those of you who have been thinking about it, please come to our first rehearsal. Time and date of our first rehearsal to be in the next issue of The Breeze. or, you can contact Barbara Wasco (951) 797- 3466 or email at bawasco@dc.rr.com. ~ Barbara Wasco Four Season Singers our first March screening, on sunday, March 9, at 6 pm, is the film "Fruitville station" (usa 2013, 85 minutes). here is a brief description from iMdB.com: "This is the true story of oscar, a 22-year-old Bay area resident who wakes up on the morning of december 31, 2008 and feels something in the air. Not sure what it is, he takes it as a sign to get a head start on his resolutions: being a better son to his mother, whose birthday falls on New year's eve, being a better partner to his girlfriend, who he hasn't been completely honest with as of late, and being a better father to T, their beautiful four year old daughter. he starts out well, but as the day goes on, he realizes that change is not going to come easy. he crosses paths with friends, family, and strangers, each exchange showing us that there is much more to oscar than meets the eye. But it would be his final encounter of the day, with police officers at the Fruitvale BarT station that would shake the Bay area to its very core, and cause the entire nation to be witnesses to the story of oscar grant." our second March screening, sunday, March 23, at 6 pm, is the film "Wadjda" (saudi arabia/germany 2012, 98 minutes, english subtitles). here is a brief description from iMdB.com: "Wadjda is a 10-year-old girl living in a suburb of riyadh, the capital of saudi arabia. although she lives in a conservative world, Wadjda is fun loving, entrepreneurial and always pushing the boundaries of what she can get away with. after a fight with her friend abdullah, a neighborhood boy she shouldn't be playing with, Wadjda sees a beautiful green bicycle for sale. she wants the bicycle desperately so that she can beat abdullah in a race. But Wadjda's mother won't allow it, fearing repercussions from a society that sees bicycles as dangerous to a girl's virtue. so Wadjda decides to try and raise the money herself."
