Seasoned Solos #2 Hello everyone! As of the writing of this article the two events planned for March haven't happened yet. I can report on them later. Unfortunately there was a poor Solos turn out at the Valentine's Party that we were invited to, by the NY/NJ Club. Everyone had a wonderful time! They are such a fun group. I stepped out of the box and played poker with the guys. Really fun! Like I told you, this is the year of change. On Fri., April 12 from 6 to 9 pm, The Hemet Valley Art Assoc. proudly presents the 10th annual "An Evening of Art," at the Hemet Public Library, 30 E. Latham Ave. There will be live demonstrations, reasonably priced art, wine and cheese, and opportunity drawings. The cost is $10 at the door. The proceeds go to scholarships for High School Art Students, and operation of the HVAA Gallery. Let's meet out front at 5:45 pm and enjoy the event together. Questions? Call Pat at (951) 325-2029. A House Party is in the early planning stages for sometime in late April. If it can come together, you will be contacted by phone, e-mail, or a "blast." We will try to give at least a weeks notice. I plan to get out a May "blast" before I leave for 20 days of camping! I am thinking the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Sat., May 3 at the Lodge might be a great event for the Seasoned Solos to get together. Let's see if we can't get a couple of tables reserved for our members. More info to follow in April. 23 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2014 | 24 At our last art club meeting, Barbara Kenyon showed us how to use Pinterest (pinterest.com) to inspire our artistic pursuits. Thank you, Barbara! Our next scheduled meeting is on Thurs., April 17 at 1 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room. The activity following the meeting is yet to be determined. During the month of April, John Maykulsky, Pamela Maykulsky and Patrick Barry will be the exhibitors at the art gallery in the Lodge. If you wish to exhibit either your art or crafts, please fill out the form and put it in the box in the Lodge designated for the drawing. We will inform the people who are chosen two months before their actual display. OuR FEATuRED ARTIST: VICkI-AllEn HITT Vicki and her husband moved to Hemet in July 2006. Before that, she taught history, psychology and sociology for 25 years in Simi Valley. She graduated from California Lutheran University with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and became a licensed MFT in California. She used art therapy to help her to better understand the inner workings of her patients, especially children. After retiring, she returned to college to study art. She works in all mediums, although primarily in pastels and acrylics. Building textures and experiencing new mediums keeps her excited about art in which the possibilities are endless. Her goal is to create art that will stimulate the curiosity of the viewer. Vicki's works have been on exhibit in three galleries in the Riverside area. Our talented and experienced teachers offer many classes including acrylics, tole painting, tatting, memoir writing, watercolor, drawing, calligraphy and more. For information about these classes and upcoming workshops, check the clipboards and sign up in the Arts and Crafts Room. Please contact Barbara Kenyon (951) 537-8779 for any questions about our club and its activities.
