34 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2014 | CLUBS & GROUPS If you are not a member of the Writer's Club, think about joining it before the new year begins on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 1:30 pm in the Lodge. In summertime, we visit new places, meet new people, have new experiences and get inspired by them. With our friends and dear ones, we talk about the outstanding sites we visited and persons we met. We describe them with all sorts of emotions — I loved, I admired, I was bored, I hated — and we comment about this and that. If we have nobody to talk to, we don't worry because we can talk silently to ourselves in words and sentences. If we can talk, we can write. We don't even have to always write it down on paper. A friend came to visit with me the other day. He said, "Joseph, say something, anything." He held a little gadget, like a cellular phone, in front of my mouth and I said anything that came to my mind. At once, he showed me my spoken words translated into written words on the screen, in perfect spelling and punctuation. He told me, "You can plug this little thing into your computer and you can read and edit what you said." We went to several performances at the Redlands Bowl, attended the Amphitheater performance, had a pizza party for the 4th of July and watched the fireworks, went to San Clemente on Metrolink, and a few attended a wonderful performance of Miss Saigon at the California Theater. Plans being discussed for August include Redlands Bowl performances, the Redlands Theater Festival and going to the California Science Center in Los Angeles for the Pompeii Exhibit. Every month we go out for lunch or dinner at different restaurants. Other activities will be discussed and added at our August planning meeting.
