In our message from your Board in the August issue of the Hemet Herald, we informed you of how you might help create "One Shining Day in September for our homeless Veterans." It came to pass on the 5th of September on March Air Reserve Base. The wonderful details are contained elsewhere in this issue, in a message from John Baranek, who spearheaded the event. Please read — you will smile all the way through! The generosity of the residents of our community caused our "true colors," Red, White and Blue, to shine magnificently on that day. As we ramped up for the event, we came together, we showed our real maturity as senior citizens, veterans, patriotic Americans and created a special day for so many in need of a "special day." Once in a while "we win one," we did! The recipients of your generosity did! No thanks were asked for! No one asked that their name get published! Nothing was asked for in return! It all came from the heart! Isn't this the way things should be? You can be proud, so "very proud" to be a part of the Four Seasons at Hemet family that helped enable John Baranek to make it happen. While this effort extended "outside" of our community, you should know that the generosity and kindness of our residents permeates the entire "inside" of Four Seasons. I am speaking of our Sunshine Team. We have become all too aware that life is short. Since the beginning of 2014 we have said our last farewell to too many of our residents. In each case, when requested, our Sunshine Team has responded with beautiful and bountiful Celebrations of Life to help the bereaved in this most difficult of times. When notified of debilitating illness, they are on the scene to offer food or some kindness within the home. Here again is an extension of giving on the part of our residents. Nothing is asked in return, no names of the "givers" are published. Yet they appear, as if from nowhere, to be of service. We all owe these folks a debt of gratitude. I know for a fact that they absorb your pain unto themselves in hope that it makes yours a little easier. We live in a wonderful place! Are you a part of it? If you are, then you know of what I speak and "thank you." If not, you can be, and your Four Seasons at Hemet experience will expand beyond your dreams! Open your heart and your mind to your friends and neighbors. Be slow to criticize, and swift to offer thanks and be of service. Keep in mind the profound adage that "tomorrow never comes!" Thank you for all you do as a person, resident, spouse, parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, neighbor and friend. Take care of yourselves and your families, and always keep the safety of our troops in your prayers. May God bless you and may God Bless America! Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors: Tony, Ken, Greg, Ross, Russ & Carey.
