5 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | October 2014 | Things to Do 44th Annual Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest, Big Bear Lake Convention Center, 42900 Big Bear Blvd., (909) 585-3000 or info@bigbearevents. com: Dance, Sing, Eat and Be Merry! It all started in 1969 and still is going strong. It's considered one of the largest and most authentic Oktoberfest on the West Coast. The original Burgermeister Hans still partakes. They serve up German food and " bier" fit for a king plus other American foods and beer. Music is every Saturday from 12 noon to 12 midnight and Sunday's 12 noon to 5:30 pm. Other activities taking place each weekend are Log Sawing & Stein Holding Contest. Runs each weekend for the month of October. Call or go online for additional information. Out & About The purpose of this column is to offer and share what other Four Season residents have discovered as their "special gems" here in Hemet or in surrounding areas. Here are a few: Restaurants Antonio's Pizza, 3327 W. Florida., Hemet, (951) 929- 7770: Looking for thin crust pizza; go no further… close and yummy! In addition offer lasagna, ravioli and we've heard people love their spaghetti & meatballs. If you want something lighter have a garden, antipasti, or chef's salad. Casual dining and opened seven days a week from 10 am to 10 pm. Thank you Terry Fitzgerald for sharing! Restaurants Texas Road House, 29860 Haun Rd., (951) 244-0600: If you haven't tried this steakhouse, you are in for a special experience, according to Mike Enos. Super casual (peanuts in the shell on every table; throw shells on the floor)! But the steaks are big and great. You can call ahead and save some time by getting your name on the waiting list and yes, there always seems to be a wait. Enjoy one of their hearty $8.99 Early Dine; it's offered Mon. - Thurs. until 6: pm. Call for additional information. Whenever you find that new place to eat, upcoming events or something special remember to let us know so we can share it with our community! Email Paul Barr at ps.barr@hotmail.com with your suggestions.
