HOLIDAY LUNCHEON –"A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS:" The month of December always brings the Garden Club Holiday Luncheon. Our event will be Dec. 10 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Doors open at 10:30 am. The proceeds from the raffle will go to our own Sun Lakes EPAP Animal Rescue to buy kennel misters. For further information please call Raylene at 845-7000 or Betty at 769-6200 for tickets. TRIPS: Don't forget to make a reservation for the bus trip to the Holiday Lights in Rancho Cucamonga. Shopping and dinner are on your on at Victoria Gardens. The bus will drop us off and we will walk to Electric Avenue to view the lights. Please bring a small flashlight with you and wear comfortable shoes. The cost for this trip is $25. For information and a reservation please call Evelyn at 845-7199. SEE'S CANDIES: If you are needing See's Candy you better hurry. They go fast at this time of the year. Candy sales will be held on Dec. 10 at the Holiday Luncheon and on Dec. 17, 18 and 19. For further information please call Jackie Jones at 769-3855. CHARITY: Bring your donations of discarded cell phones, eye glasses, stuffed animals and small suitcases to the monthly meeting and we will distribute them to the needy. Also bring any unused hotel type soaps, shampoos and other toiletries and we will donate them to the needy as well. Call Joan at 845-6715. FRUIT PICKERS: The fruit pickers have been keeping an eagle eye out for trees that need to be picked. Please call Doris at 845- 5042 or Pat Shibata at 760-1316. Don't let it go to waste as we donate to the local kitchens that feed the hungry. MISC: We planted nine memorial trees in the month of October in memory of loved ones who lived in Sun Lakes. We were able to donate eight acres of tree saplings to our local San Bernardino Forest for re-foresting this year from the generous donations of our members. JANUARY MEETING PROGRAM: The program for January will feature Carol Hamre who is a Master Gardener and she will speak about Unique Living Gifts and the care of succulent plants. Garden Club 18 | sun lakes lIfestyles | deCeMBeR 2014 | soCIal CluBs & gRoups Chorale The Sun Lakes Chorale had a flash mob in the Main Clubhouse restaurant last month, singing "Hallelujah Chorus" to the obvious delight of surprised diners. It was our way of announcing that tickets for our holiday concert are now on sale in the Main Clubhouse lobby every weekday from 9 am to 4 pm. Our concert dates and times are Fri., Dec. 5 at 7 pm, Sat., Dec. 6 at 7 pm, and Sun., Dec. 7 at 3 pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets will also be available at the door before each concert. Our music this year features variations of well-known classics, new Christmas and Hanukkah songs, and old, familiar favorites. Our concertmaster is director Bob Jensen, and our accompanist is Lisa Yarbrough. Don't miss this inspiring annual event.
