We are celebrating Chanukah 2014 on Tues., Dec. 16, with five main events in one evening. The first event is the lighting of our elegant Menorah in its traditional location in front of the Main Clubhouse at 5:15 pm and everyone is welcome to attend. After the candle lighting ceremony we will proceed to the South Clubhouse where the next four events will take place and this part of the evening is by advance reservation only, paid of course. Between 5:30 and 6 pm we will hold a reception to meet, greet and share a treat and good wishes with one another before our third event, the election of officers for 2015, takes place. The fourth event is our Chanukah dinner catered by Thomas caterers. After dinner we will be treated to the final part of this happy evening… the joyous singing of Nancy Ford who will entertain us and keep us in fine tune as she has done before. A wonderful, memorable evening will be had by all those lucky enough to get their reservations in before the seating, limited to 100, is filled. Our dinner menu will include both chicken marsala and roasted tri tip, oven roasted red potatoes with onions, mixed veggies, Waldorf salad and green salad, challah for each table, coffee and, of course, our traditional Chanukah dinner jelly donut dessert. The cost for this evening is $15 for members of the YCC and $18 for guests. Flyers with reservation forms are available on the flyer wall in the Main Clubhouse. All paid reservations must be received by Dec. 11 and sent to Diane Stone, 1800 Litchfield Ct., Banning, CA 92220. We hope to share this evening with 100 of our good friends. Info., Diane, 769-0130. A Look Back… There aren't many venues that can brag that they were able to do a great show every month for a year. The Friendship Club did it last year and the plan is to do it again starting in January. But for now let's take a closer look at what transpired this year. Jan. 12: Jennifer Fair, International Vocalist, "Great Moments In Music: From Pop To Pavarotti." Lincoln Center, Luxury Cruise Lines, and Carnegie Hall. Feb. 9: "Supreme Reflections, A Loving Tribute to the music of Diana Ross and The Supremes." In addition this presentation was hosted and narrated by special guest star Motown producer, George Solomon. March 9: "It Takes Two… Delicious Duets From Stage And Screen," starring Stan Chandler and Kirsten Chandler. What a show that was. April 13: David Burnham, from Broadway's Wicked. John Cudia, the first and only actor to have performed both as the The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables on Broadway. Brent Barrett, of Broadway's West End, as well as a variety of concert halls. May 18: "Sweet Caroline," starring Jay White, a Neil Diamond Tribute Artist, who entertains nightly in Las Vegas. June 8: Dale Kristen returned, but this time with Jordon Bennett. You'll remember Dale as Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera. Jordan Bennett appeared in two musicals, The Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and The Education Of Randy Newman. July 13: We featured "Poperazzi" a versatile, entertaining, elegant, sexy trio that blurred the boundaries between classical and popular music. Aug. 10: "From Broadway To The Met," starring Melissa Batalles, Argentian-American lyric Coloratura soprano, and Troy Clarke's take on the Great American Songbook. Scott Wood, who has been hailed as one of the funniest stand-up comedians working today, also appeared. Sept. 14: Brent Webb's "Beyond Impossible," advertised as a man who has the power to get into peoples' mind, and he proved it. Oct. 12: "Jack Walker." His signature was a collection of musical influences performed in three languages. "Best show ever," was the audience response. Nov. 9: Maureen McGovern's "Long And Winding Road," a look back to the 1960s and 70s with early music from our generations iconic singer/song writers. Join the Friendship Club for next year will top them all. You don't want to miss out. Info., Judy, 797-0265. Next month: The Kingston Trio, Jan. 11. Doors open at 6 pm, and show starts 7 pm. In 1957 The Kingston Trio emerged from San Francisco to take the country by storm, bringing American folk music into the mainstream. During the late 50s and early 60s, they enjoyed unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame, while influencing the musical tastes of a generation. Their music had a ripple effect on the entire music industry. In 1958, the folk revival was born. The band worked tirelessly to refine the music and polish their act. After months of work, they were booked at the Purple Onion, San Francisco's "discovery club." They were an overnight sensation. Members $20, non-resident guests $25. Checks to Friendship Club. Deposit into box at 985 Southern Hills Dr. For cancellations and other info., call Judy at 797-0265. The Friendship Club
