Friends we will miss
William (Bill) Strong, 79 passed away Oct. 26, 2014 at San Gorgonio Hospital after a
brief illness. He was born Oct. 4, 1935 in Nyack, NY. He moved to Hartford, CT, in his younger years.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1963, he moved his family to California, where
he was employed by the Los Angeles Transportation District as a bus driver for 25 years. In 1991,
Bill married Rosalee, whom he met at a Brunswick Bowling Center, where she was Program Director.
They moved to Simi Valley, CA and he worked 11 years for Simi Valley Transportation. After retiring,
Bill and Rosalee moved from Simi Valley to Sun Lakes Country Club in 1999. Bill was an avid golfer,
and was a member of the Men's Golf Club. He was very active in the Drama Club, where he enjoyed
acting in three plays. He also was a member of the International Culture Club, Friendship Club, and
the Mystery Theater. He enjoyed playing pool, and being with family and friends. He always loved
singing with his daughter, Jan, and his grandchildren at family gatherings. Bill is survived by his
wife, Rosalee, two daughters; Janice and Deborah; sons-in-law, Mike and Darrell; a stepdaughter,
Stephanie, and her husband, Brett; stepson, Steven; a cousin, Lorraine Clapp from South Windsor,
CT, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two more due before the end of this year. Bill
was loved by so many and he will truly be missed.
