| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2014 | 32 Bocce Shuffleboard Horseshoes Another short message about our newest club, Horseshoes. We made progress after some adjustments with scoring, and keeping teams together, and are confident that the beginning of next year will be a little more organized. We have scoring boards and some revamping of the courts will take place to make it safer for the players. Meanwhile, check out a set of horseshoes from the front desk and give it a try. The club players played a tournament of two games each and total score of both games produced the winners. Thank you players for hanging in there while we sorted out many of the problems associated with the courts and the learning cycle of do's and do not. Chairpersons Ross Brunetto and Mike Crimi 926-8295. We have Shuffleboard champions but we can't tell you. Why, you ask? We did not play yet and you are reading this long after the tournament was played. Unfortunately, this article was written before we played which was scheduled for Nov. 13 so we will have to tell you next month unless you meet the Champs or you hear thru our network of communication here at the Lodge. I can tell you before this match that this will be a tough one because the players are eager to play and they had lots of practice after completing 10 matches with the club and a few games played thru the week for extra practice. Anyone here can play because the playing area is smooth and allows scooters and walkers into the playing area. If you are thinking about playing you will always find players on Monday morning getting their fix of shuffleboard so this would be a good opportunity to meet some players and learn more about the game. For all our players this year, do not miss our brunch/awards scheduled for Jan. 15 in the Ballroom at 11 am. If you cannot make it please let the chairperson know before that date. Meanwhile you can have fun guessing who might win on Nov. 13. Thanks to all the players who made our Shuffleboard Club fun and challenging. Info., Chairperson Ross Brunetto, (951) 926-8295. The Bocce Club has a champion team for this year but as this article was being written, the club has not played this match which was scheduled for Nov. 16. We will picture our winners in our January issue of the magazine and give you detail of the team. What the club has done for activities prior to the end of October was to sponsor another fund raiser at our recent Car Show and Art and Craft Fair. Our booth was organized by Janet Langemeier and she had about 15 of our bocce players help man the booth to sell water and soda. The club did very well and will use the money to buy tables, chairs, and another billboard used to post the teams before each game. A big thank you to all of those folks who gave some time to help the club, your help was much appreciated. The bocce club depends on our members to volunteer from time to time and this was one good example. A big thank you to all the folks who donated the cases of refreshments, as always your donation helps the club directly and the money is always used to benefit the players. Although the club has ended, the celebration has not and we will have our awards banquet on Sun. Jan., 25 in the Ballroom at 5 pm. Please mark your calendar now so you will not miss a great dinner and presentation to the winners. If you have a question about the banquet please contact chairperson Ross Brunetto at (951) 926-8295 or Margie Culton for information. See you there. Working the Bocce booth stocked with soda and water to raise money.
