Clifford Owen Berreth passed away peacefully on November 18, 2014, at the age of 94. Cliff was born January 28, 1920 in Menno, South Dakota. After graduating from Menno High School, Cliff moved to California and earned his Bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University. Cliff worked in the Aerospace industry for over 45 years at McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell. After retiring he moved from Costa Mesa to Sun Lakes Country Club. Cliff enjoyed the Angels, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Cliff is survived by his wife Florence Adams Berreth; daughters Diana Gesty and Wendy Wilkerson; son-in-law Jim Gesty; granddaughters Brittany and Michelle Wilkerson and stepchildren Terry Adams, Cheryl Featherstone and Tom Adams. Cliff was preceded in death by his first wife Elsie and son-in-law Don Wilkerson. Cliff was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Abraham Berzon age 93, a resident of Sun Lakes in Banning for the past 17 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2014 in his home. Abe was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Benjamin and Dora Berzon on December 24, 1920. He was one of four children. His family moved to Chicago, Illinois where he grew up until he joined the U.S. Army in 1942. During his tenure in the U.S. Army he met and married his wife Shirley in 1943. Abe is survived by his wife Shirley of 71 years in marriage; his son Jeff Berzon (Barbara); grandchildren James and Justin Berzon, and Kimberly Thorsen; and great- grandchildren Aaron and Kristi Berson and Todd and Scott Thorsen. He was preceded in death by his older brother Jack, his older sister Rose, his younger sister Esther, and his daughter Eileen. Philip Newman Harrington age 89, resident of Sun Lakes for the past 17 years, died peacefully on a beautiful Monday morning, Nov. 17, 2014, of natural causes. Phil was born in September, 1925, to Matthew and Maggie Harrington in Durango, CO. He and his younger sister Phyllis were raised in the home of their beloved grandparents, Amelia and Nels Newman. A member of all three branches of the military, Phil was deeply patriotic and at 17 left high school to join the U.S. Navy. He then recruited to the U.S. Marines and trained as a radioman. He went into active duty in World War II with the rank of RM3-c and was an active participant in the liberation of the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1946 at the conclusion of the war and served on reserves for the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, Phil enrolled at the University of Washington and earned his B.A, degree in Business and Finance. He did post graduate work at the University of Southern California. Phil had a notable career in finance and banking that began at Glendale Savings & Loan. He later moved to Washington D.C. where he was a founding member of Freddie Mac. He later returned to California to serve as the President of Westmark Savings Bank in Newport Beach. In 1986, he moved to Seattle, WA where he was executive vice president of Washington Mutual. In his later years, Phil served as an expert witness to the courts and gave testimony in matters of finance. Phil is survived by a large family whom he loved dearly: his cherished wife Betty, his four children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and a nephew and his two children. He is also survived by Lili, his dog, whom he loved alongside the rest of the family. Special thanks to VNA Hospice for their loving care. Kind, gentle, brave, intelligent — a happy man.
