CommunIty news | sun lakes lIfestyles | JanuaRy 2015 | 7 Now that the holidays are coming to an end, it is time to take down those beautiful Christmas trees we worked so hard on. For those of you who have real trees this year, Waste Management will collect and recycle real Christmas trees for the first two weeks following Christmas on your regular collection day. Trees longer than six feet must be cut in half before disposal. Trees four feet or shorter can be placed in the standard green waste cans. Please remove all stands, ornaments and tinsel from trees before disposal. Flocked trees will be collected but cannot be recycled. We would also like to extend a friendly reminder that all Christmas lighting and decor must be removed 10 days following the holiday being Jan. 4. Happy New Year from the Planning and Compliance department! ~ Heather Killian CCAM, Planning and Compliance Manager Planning & Compliance News Recreation Director Message Sun Lakes Security We would like to introduce Mark Schleiden (former Maintenance Manager) as Sun Lakes Country Club's new Director of Operations. Mark's first priority is for the safety and well-being of our residents. He has made changes to the security system as well as supervising the community patrol staff. You may have noticed some delays as you're entering the gates. The gate patrol has been instructed to check each person that comes through the gates for authorization. No one will be allowed to enter the property without authorization from the residents or without administration approval. The security staff has been diligent in carrying out this safety procedure, thus there has been some delays at the gate. You can help. Please notify the gate in advance of any guests that you're expecting. For guests that you are expecting on a regular basis (family, friends, caregivers or landscapers) call the administration office to give permanent authorization for access to your home. The administration number is 769-6649. This will save time at the gate and make entering a more pleasant experience. We appreciate your help and cooperation for the safety of all Sun Lakes Country Club's residents. ~ The Operations Department I would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in this years' Veterans Walk in November. We had over 330 individuals sign up to either walk or donate. It is because of you that we were able to donate $9,700 to the WWP. This really shows what type of community Sun Lakes is and how much you all come together for a great cause. I would like to announce that District 7 came in with the most active participants that day with over 30. Congratulations! Next year the goal is to shoot for over $10,000. Please keep in mind that preparations are done a month prior so the earlier you sign up the better. Keep a look out this July for sign ups. ~ Jason Ewals
