CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2015 37 In 1271 Marco Polo, his father and uncle left Venice to visit the Kublai Kahn in China. It was 24 years before they got back home again. For the return trip to Venice, Kahn sent 14 immense ships and 600 men with the Polos. It took about two years for the voyage, but there remained only two ships and 18 men when they finally arrived. What happened to the other ships and men is still a mystery. Marco's stories are recorded in a book called The Description of the World. It was so popular that Columbus took a copy on his journey to the New World. On his death bed, Marco was asked to elaborate on or recant his story, and he said, "I have not told half of what I saw." While our life's stories are not as grand and exciting as Marco's, they are still very worthy stories. But unless we write it down, who will ever know? With nothing for future generations to read, our life's story will disappear 30 to 40 years after we're gone. Start now. When you remember an event or experience you had, especially while growing up, write it down. Don't worry about organization, just get it on paper (or into your computer). Info., Willis Fagan, Club Captain, (951) 769-4482 or email wefbev@verizon.net. ~ Willis Fagan Discovery Club Seasoned Solos During December the Seasoned Solos enjoyed the Christmas program at the Lodge, the Magic Show at the Lodge, breakfast at Smitty's, a Christmas Party at Monica's with an ornament and cookie exchange, and lunch at Grand Oaks. Events to be discussed at the January meeting include the Street Fair in Palm Desert, miniature golf, American Legion Dinner, and lunch at Hawk's Head in Oak Glen. We welcome new members. We have one planning meeting each month followed by enjoyable outings. Our meetings are the first Friday of each month at 6 pm in the Craft Room in the Lodge. ~ Mary Castle We are residents who participate in RV trips. In the past we have traveled to many fun and interesting places.
