CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2015 31 We are looking for players, substitute players, and people who are interested in learning the game. I am happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn the game, either individually or in a small group, your home or mine. Pan is a card game, much on the order of gin in some respects, and played with up to eight people at a table. It is played by both men and women, so men are very welcome as well as women. The game can be played in the day, evening, in a room in the Lodge or in private homes. As all card games, it is played with both skill and luck. ~ Linda Mendelson Pan Carl Carson was the big champion for the month of October, winning the most domino games. Carl was also the winner in August. He decided on spaghetti for the entrée of the month. Our president, Reggie Fuqua, put on his apron and fixed two huge pots of spaghetti that did not disappoint anyone. The ingredients Reggie uses in his secret spaghetti recipe are unknown, but the results always produces a tongue twisting, soul satisfying meal. Way to go Reggie! Both Carl Carson and Solomon Hayes have been playing dominoes on a superior level. These two guys have both won twice in the last six months. The rest of the players are going to have to get into their arsenals and bring out the big guns to stop them. Maybe some players need to go to domino school and take a refresher course, myself included. Come out and join the fun and make some new friends. Gaines Dominoes Un-believe-ably, the "Believe…" Women's Bible Study began a year ago, on Jan. 3. To date, we have enjoyed 50 lessons, lots of laughs, close sisterhood, and beautiful Bible messages. Each woman that attended in 2014 has been a true blessing, each bringing incredible depth of faith, wisdom, knowledge and insight. From March until Dec. 19, we studied 1 Corinthians 13:1- 7: how we show our love for God by treating others with true Christian love ~ what it means to have it, how to get it and then shine its light on those around us. Our final lesson on Dec. 19 was a reflection on each of the lessons and what the women learned from them. Before the 1 Corinthians 13 study began, each member filled out a card containing what attribute they wanted to strengthen from this study. That card was then placed in a sealed envelope with their name on the front. On Dec. 19 the sealed envelope was returned to them, enabling that woman to make a personal assessment of how much they have grown. Also, each woman was given a special gift in remembrance of this study, and then dismissed to enjoy the Christmas party, which consisted of a potluck, program, and lots of other surprises. Also on Dec. 19 the participants in the Secret Sister Project discovered the identity of their individual Secret Sister who left all the wonderful surprises on their doorsteps. It was a fun and rewarding experience for every giver and recipient. We will reconvene for a whole new study on Jan. 9, at 10:30 am in the first section of the Ballroom. Come join this amazing group of beautiful Christian women. This is a non-denominational study for all women, no matter their level of biblical knowledge. We'll be looking for you. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine "Believe:" Women's Bible Study Wow! The holidays have come and gone. The Lodge looked its best ever. Good job! Oh, and the program was fantastic. The perfect kick off to the holiday season. I hope you and your love ones had a wonderful Christmas and fun New Year's Eve. My decree for you… 2015 be a year of good health, fun with family and friends, your dreams and hopes come true, and this is the year you finally get out and enjoy our beautiful community and all of its clubs and amenities . You deserve it! Our Christmas Gala was sold out. Thank you for such great participation. I can't wait to share our evening with you. I will let you know everything in the next issue. Stay tuned. The Multicultural Evening of Christian and Gospel Music is Sunday, Feb. 8, from 5:30 to 7 pm. It is a completely free event. We really hope all the community will participate and attend. You can still sign up if you have a talent — singing, playing an instrument or piano, praise dancing, gospel music, etc. The last day to sign up is Jan. 15. All in our community are encourage to share their talent. Let's make this event a true reflection of our community spirit and togetherness.
