23 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | February 2015 | Chances are you have thought about writing your life story. Perhaps you are a member of the "Greatest Generation" and want your children to understand and remember the values that shaped your life. Or maybe you are a "Baby Boomer" who is reaching retirement age and finding your have an abundance of memories and time to record them. We all know people who are born story-tellers and can make the most mundane experience seem like enchanting adventures. We envy the spell they cast on their listeners who seem to hang on their every word. It's a gift, you may say. Perhaps…but writing an interesting story also involves skills that you can learn, practice, and apply. My Memoir Class will introduce you to those skills. For novices and more experienced writers alike, my course presents techniques long used by fiction writers to craft compelling characters, places and stories. It shows how to apply these techniques to writing an unforgettable narrative. And, at the same time, have fun sampling great desserts. Please join us Tuesdays, 2 to 5 pm in the Art Room. For info., contact Eleanor Rosenbaum at effieboot@aol.com or (951) 223-3375. Memoir Writing Class & Desserts TGIF TGIF is changing. We will still bring and share a salad, entrée, or dessert. We are adding an appetizer table for the 30 minutes prior to the main course. Each month we will highlight a different committee, group, club and or neighborhood. In February we will highlight our "snow birds" from Canada and the USA North. In future months we will highlight the Guitar, Karoke, Art, Readers Theater, Tennis, Shuffleboard, Guitar clubs and as many others as we can bring to TGIF. We will also honor the Social, Landscape, Facilities, board members, Architectural, Library and other committees. We hope to find a way to break down our community into 11 neighborhoods (as January is already gone). We will blend these neighbors together and encourage them to come to TGIF to "Meet your Neighbors." If any of you have any suggestions as to how we can improve TGIF please let us know. TGIF starts at about 5 pm every first and third Friday of each month. For questions or suggestions, please contact Bob Morriss at bobmorriss@yahoo.com. Book Club All readers interest in great discussions, occasional guest speakers and movies, join us the third Monday of every month. Our book for February is Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. We will be meeting at my house at 669 Weir Drive at 2 pm. Hope to see all of you. Any questions, contact Vicki Allen-Hitt at (951) 926-6336 or vhitt@hotmail.com.
