11 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | February 2015 | Crumbs from Cookie: We have certainly had a huge cold spell these past few weeks. I'm sure many of us have taken coats and blankets to help the Salvation Army keep the doors open at night. I want to also mention our community pantry box in the Multipurpose Room. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Karen Brown had so much food in the box that she needed a van to transport it to the pantry? If all of us bought two to three items while shopping we could fill that box! The Sunshine Team will get us started. As part of my saying good-bye, I wanted to mention that one of the first things we changed was our name to Sunshine TEAM. It takes a village to accomplish our endeavors. I have individually thanked our members but it is every one of us working together that allows us to help residents in time of need. If you want to be part of the team informally you could bake, help us set up or volunteer to clean up afterwards. You could sign up at one of our monthly programs. That would mean you wouldn't need to attend meetings! Speaking of our monthly programs, we have been informed that some speakers need some kind of payment. Whether it's to cover gas or just earning a living. We have held steadfast that we simply cannot pay. Sunshine is not funded but supports itself strictly on donations. The donations are used for supplies and items needed to improve our services to the next resident honoring a loved one. This said we would welcome professionals you know who would be interesting AND free! Let us know if you can help. Wasn't the birthday party and Rey Aquino's talk great? As we become senior citizens, falling is our number one danger. There are so many things we can do for our home to keep us safe but if we are falling there are "better" ways to go down. I hope we took notes. I thought Big Red and Flutterbutter were a lot of fun. At any age laughter truly IS the best medicine. Bruce Zuber held a celebration of life for his mother, Carolyn Clark. It was held in the Multipurpose Room and sponsored by Sunshine. Carolyn was cremated and being buried in her beloved North Carolina. We send our sympathies and love to Bruce and her family. Sadly we report that resident Wanda Alyea passed away early December. So many of us knew her from all the different clubs she was in. Wanda was involved in Four Seasons Emergency Preparedness committee along with the ham radio club. We send our love and sympathies to her family. Please know that for those of you who suffered a loss that we were unaware of, we send our sympathies and love to you and your family. May rays of sunshine help you heal.
