SOCIAL CLUBS & GROUPS | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2015 | 19 The ball has dropped and the confetti has been cleared. The Ice Bucket Challenge and songs such as "All About That Bass" are officially so last year. It's 2015 and the Mystery Theater is ready to provide you with some extraordinary theater with this year's "That's Entertainment" production of "The Music of Guys and Dolls (& More)." Show dates are Feb. 26, 27, 28, and March 1. Tickets will be on sale in the Main Clubhouse foyer beginning Feb. 9. The first half of the show will feature Sun Lakes' creative dancers and singers performing such romantic numbers as: "Go Greased Lightning," "Hot Chicks," "Ain't Misbehaving," "Where or When," "Sisters," "And All that Jazz," "Where the Boys Are," and many more of your favorites. The second half of the show is an adaptation of the Broadway hit Guys and Dolls where luck is truly a fickle lady tonight, as Nathan Detroit, performed by D. Williams, runs the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York. You will enjoy the performances of Gaylord Spence as Sky Masterson, Lou Evans as Sister Sarah Brown, Pat Naylor as Miss Adelaide, and Frank Gilleece as Nicely-Nicely Johnson. Did you know Lou Evans is this year's Musical Director? Lou began her musical career at the tender age of two and a half when she performed her first solo. Her singing continued with Wives Club choral groups while her husband was in the military. Her love of music is what drew her to Sun Lakes with their active chorale group. Lou made her directorial debut in the Mystery Theater's production of Hotbed Hotel followed by South Pacific and Oklahoma. Lou tells us she is a real ham at heart and loves performing before a live audience. But don't let that fool you, Lou tirelessly devotes many hours ensuring our productions are the best they can be. Is theater your secret passion, or are you just looking to have some fun and meet great new people? If this sounds like you, come and join us at our next meeting, Feb. 3, at 1 pm, held at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. See you there! Mystery Theater & More The Drama Club has moved its classical violin and piano concert from midsummer to Wed., Feb. 18 at 7 pm. This mid-winter time frame was chosen to take advantage of the reduced air fares at this time of the year. This being the10th anniversary of these incredible concerts we are going all out to make it extra special. Returning to perform will be Motoko Morita, a classical and well known pianist from Japan, who was featured in the very first concert. This time she will be performing in honor of her father who was murdered on the streets of Santiago, Chile, while there on business several years ago. He had visited Sun Lakes several times for the concerts in the past. In celebration, former Drama Club president Lorene Sowash's daughter- in-law, Maki Ishii Sowash, will be headlining the concert performing on her violin. Maki is a leading violinist with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. The concert will showcase familiar classical pieces from Vivaldi, Chopin, and Beethoven and also whimsical fun with pieces from Gershwin. Ticket prices remain the same, $10 for the concert and an additional $5 for a champagne reception to meet and mingle with the performers. Every master of ceremonies that has appeared over the years will also be on stage commemorating these 10 years of marvelous music. Tickets go on sale in the Main Clubhouse lobby from 9 am to 2 pm beginning the first Monday in February. Don't miss this beautiful music so rarely performed here in the Pass. Drama Club
