36 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2015 | HEALTH & SPORTS CLUBS Moreno Valley Monday Our Monday league has reached the halfway point in the split season format. Team 11, Jean Turnbull, Linda Costell, Pat Bisesl and Susan Pottle won all four points on position week to overtake teams 9 and 7, the whoopees. Sue Shubert, John Shubert, John Videgar and Bob Hall are tied in second and third place with Shirley Padick, Jim Padick, Ginger Hines and Don Hines. This means that Team 11 will bowl the winner of the second half for first place champions at seasons end. That will be on April 13. This is proof that the handicap system works. We are privileged to have bowling with us Hercules "Herk" Ranieri. He will be celebrating his 96th birthday early this year! He is such a wonderful inspiration. He and wife Wanda have a nice tradition—a hug for teammates whenever they bowl back to back strikes in a game. On Mon., Dec. 29, Wanda bowled a turkey for back to back hugs. A comment was heard from an adjoining lane "Get a room." Wanda went on to score her season high game with a 186, that with handicap added totaled 272 "Atta girl Wanda." She carried team five the "Recycled Teens" for a four win day as we started the second half on our split season. For winning scores see the league sheets. We look forward to more fun as we jump into the New Year. We are the remaining bowlers from the original Monday Sun Lakers that at one time had 40 teams wit five bowlers on each team. That was 20 years ago! Time flies when you are having fun. Let us keep'em rolling! The New Year is off to a grand start with 5 teams vying for first place. Team 4 -The Bipolar Rollers are a half game ahead of Gimme An "X" and We Don't Care. Just for Fun and the 4 OFFS are also closing in on the leaders. But don't fret, there are plenty of weeks left to bowl and no one is safe. We have enough weeks in to now give you some Handicap numbers as well as the Scratch leaders. Scratch Series: The 4 Offs, Andy Toro, Sandy Ellsworth; Scratch Game: Gimme and X, George Thiel, Peggy Laurel; Handicap Series: Alley Gators, Ed Reed, Donna Pritchard; Handicap Game: Just 4 Fun, Larry Stormes, Donna Reed. Let's all keep up the good bowling and remember anyone of us can have a great day at the alleys. Keep smiling! Sun Lakers & Friends Sun Lakers III Ten in the Pit (Dottie Johsz, Marlene Zander, Ron Morgan and Herb Breuer) has a mid-season a five game lead at Canyon Lanes.
