40 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2015 | FRIENDS WE WILL MISS William N. Dimitt died on February 25, 2015. He was born October 4, 1927, in Kokomo, IN. The son of J. Dane and Nellie J. Dimitt. Bill lived his first 75 years in Kokomo and was a 1945 graduate of Kokomo High School. Bill was married to Doris J. "Pat" Dimitt for nearly 55 years. She preceded him in death. He married Rosemary (Austin) Dimitt in 2002 and began a new life in Southern California. Bill is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and her four adult children; Norman Austin (Becky), Julie Austin, Miles Austin, and Kinzie Austin (Jessica); his son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Angela Dimitt, of The Villages, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Joseph, James, and Ralph, and sister, Florence, all preceded him in death. For many years, Bill's family owned and operated a meat packing company in Kokomo after which he had a highly successful sales career selling appliances for Sears, Roebuck & Co. Bill loved people, had a great sense of humor, and a special zest for life. He loved playing golf and maintained a quality game throughout his life. He enjoyed bowling and competed in the Sun Lakes Tuesday league. He was a life-long member of the American Contract Bridge League and was an accomplished bridge player. He attained the milestone rank of Gold Life Master. Bill will be missed by the many people who considered him a man of character. Lucy Farino was born December 21, 1924, in Mount Vernon, New York, and passed away on March 1, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph, who resides at Cherry Valley Healthcare. Lucy leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law (Frank and Anne Magnolia) of Sun Lakes, and a son, Daniel Farino, of Glendora. Lucy also leaves behind three grandchildren, Gina, Ryan and Lauren, and two great-granddaughters, Presley and Joplin. Lucy and Joseph lived in Sun Lakes for 12 years. She was a Red Hat lady and enjoyed bocce. She will be missed. Lewis Foster passed away February 11, 2015, in Cherry Valley, CA at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife, Mae. They were married 68 years and resided in Sun Lakes for 25 years. He is also survived by brothers, James and Jack, two sons, David and Dennis, four grandchildren, Logan, Trevor, Taryn and Jill and five great-grandchildren. Lewis served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during WWII and loved his country so much. Lewis will be missed by his loving family and close friends. He served as a Nat. Supervisor with the U.S. Agriculture Dept. where he worked until retirement. He also loved golf and was always ready for a game and loved being around fellow golfers. John (Jack) Nettel, 86, went home to be with the Lord January 30, 2015. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts he spent his childhood in Leominster, Massachusetts, attended Leominster High School and graduated from Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. He attended and graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He was commissioned 2nd Lt. in the U. S. Air Force, served 2 years and separated with the rank of 1st Lt. Jack was a member of the Newport-Harbor Unified School District School Board, was active as treasurer in his church, and Scoutmaster of a hiking and camping troop. He climbed to the peak of many of our local mountains including Mt. San Gorgonio, Mt. San Jacinto, Mt. Baden Powell, Mt. Whitney, and Mt. Baldy. He enjoyed the beach and body surfing, family camping, watching sports, especially the Angels and his beloved Patriots. Among his interests in retirement were Bocce Ball, learning to paint with watercolors, Bible studies, frequent walks and socializing with neighbors and friends, and watching sports. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Sally, sons John (Colleen) Nettel, David (Judy) Nettel and Charlie (Kari) Nettel, grandchildren Nicholas, Douglas, Adam and Marlo Nettel, nephews James and Paul Doig, Andy Shoemaker and Niece Sally Shoemaker Busby (Jeff ), Sister and Brother-in-Law Mary Lou and John Shoemaker, as well as numerous friends.
