Happy Cookers continue their great year with the March
program, "The many uses of Phyllo Dough." We appreciate
Nita Houvardes sharing her Greek recipes for Phyllo dough.
It was a great program.
The Happy Cookers is proud to present "Life is Just a
Bowl of Cherries." Guest speakers John and Sue Guldseth have
owned and operated Guldseth Cherry Orchards in Cherry Valley
since 1972. Their orchards are known for their gourmet quality and
tree ripened cherries. They do not use any pesticides or chemicals.
Natural fertilizers keep the tree strong and healthy every year.
John, a former Biology teacher, will share with the membership
how their trees are grown, why they have orchards, and the history
of orchards in Cherry Valley.
Cherry season is typically in June and July.
Peaches are at their peak in August and September. The
Guldseths also grow several other fruits and vegetable such as
pesticide-free corn, squash, onions, tomatoes, beets, green
beans and apricots.
Join us Friday, May 22, at 11 am in the South Clubhouse.

In honor of Independence Day our June program will be "Red,
White, and Blue" on Fri., June 26.

Chorale
The Chorale of Sun Lakes closed out its season with a very
successful Spring Concert. Bill Kliewer, director of the
Barbershop Chorus, stepped up to lead us after long-time
director Bob Jensen suffered a heart attack in April.
We are thankful for the prayers, letters, best
wishes, and other support the entire community sent
to Bob and Janice Jensen in the wake of Bob's medical
situation. As of this writing, he is doing well.
We thoroughly enjoyed Bill Kliewer's leadership and
direction for our Spring Concert. We'll be back in September to
prepare for our Holiday Concert in December. Stay tuned.
