This year we will celebrate the 97th annual Cherry Festival. I want to take this opportunity to invite all of our local friends and families as well as those from our neighboring communities to come out and join us in celebrating another successful festival. Nearly 40,000 guests will enjoy sampling from a variety of food booths, visiting vendors who offer a wide selection of wares and arts and crafts, riding the many rides at the carnival and listening to music by world-class performers. For our guests 21 and over, you're invited to visit the beer garden where you can enjoy a cold beverage and relax. The city provides free shuttle service to and from the festival grounds throughout the event. Remote parking will be available at Wal-Mart, south of the I-10 (off of Highland Springs) as well as at the sports park on the corner of Beaumont Avenue and Brookside. Buses will run at regular intervals, providing transportation to and from these sites. You will receive $1 off the admission fee when you park at one of these sites and take the shuttle. A schedule of shuttle times is included in this publication. The Kiwanis Club and the city of Beaumont will be sponsoring the annual Cherry Fest Car Show on Sat., May 30, beginning at 10 am in Stewart Park in Beaumont. On Sat., June 6, the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual pancake breakfast where you can enjoy pancakes topped with cherry syrup. Tickets are available at the chamber office or at the door. Following breakfast you can head on over to the parade route to watch the parade sponsored by the Rotary Club. Please join us as I am sure you won't want to miss the fun. Whether you are new in town or have lived here forever, you are sure to have a good time.
