FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2015 33 The artist's perspective, by Beverly Lunetta: "Before my husband, Andy and I moved to Four Seasons, Beaumont, I used to think it would be nice to have a place close by, where I could be involved in fun activities, including something art related. Then we found our current home here! Four Seasons has a lot to offer, much more than I was even hoping for. If you're bored living here, it's your own fault! I joined Rob Kelman's Drawing Class and have drawn a number of different subjects but my true passion is drawing horses. When I was very young, I used to always tell my parents whenever they purchased anything of great value that we could have bought a horse with the money they spent on that item. I guess they got tired of hearing that, so they bought me a horse! OK, so now you know why I chose to draw another horse portrait. The reason I chose drawing is because a pencil is very convenient. You can take out your pencil and work anytime or anywhere. In this picture, I only used an ebony pencil, a blending stick and an eraser. When I draw, I strive for realism. I try to bring the picture to life. To do this, I try to put attention on the drama of light, shadow and texture. This is only possible with a lot of detail to work from. You also need to have a lot of patience. Due to the amount of detail in my drawings, they can take a lot of time to finish, but when I finally do, I love the feeling of accomplishment. Rob Kelman, our instructor helps to make our class a lot of fun. He's very knowledgeable and runs a no-pressure class. We all work at our own pace. It's nice to be there with other aspiring artists, drawing, talking, singing and learning. Classes are Mondays 10 am to 12 pm and Wednesdays 6 to 8 pm. Just stop by!" His musical talents are diverse as he is also involved in mentoring young adults aspiring to be musicians. As always, seating is first come, first served — whether you take advantage of the concrete risers or bring your own chairs. If setting up your chairs, please remember to leave enough space in both back and front of you to allow room for those folks on the risers. And don't be fooled by our warm days, a wrap will be needed for the cool evenings. Enjoy the show! ~ Doris SanFilipo Work by the Artist of the Month Beverly Lunetta
