36 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2015 What's the best genealogy computer program? Genealogy software is very useful because it navigates, organizes and publishes family data. It can handle thousands of names and facts about your ancestors, and can greatly assist in finding new information by using the Internet. A couple of top-rated programs are Family Tree Maker and RootsMagic. They are fast, easy to use, have helpful hints, indicate data that's missing, and smoothly connect to Internet services such as Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.com and the National Archives. You can often download a free trial version of these programs for a limited time, but you'll eventually need to pay for a permanent version. Most programs cost between $30 and $50, and are easily upgraded when improvements are made. As with anything like this, there is a period when you must learn how to use it. These programs are very powerful and can perform many tasks easily, so getting the most out of them will depend on your willingness to put in the time and effort required. As the evidence unfolds at Killowen, a local artists colony near beautiful Tipperary in central Ireland, mysteries of the past become present again and questions swirl around ancient philosophies of good and evil. Simon & Shuster publisher's page tells us, "while archaeologist Cormac Maquire and pathologist Nora Gavin investigate a ninth- century body found buried in the trunk of a car, they discover the corpse is not alone. Both bodies were murdered centuries apart, so how did they end up together? Digging deeper into the older crime, they become entangled in high-stakes intrigue. The Book of Killowen reveals a new twist on the power of language and on the eternal mysteries of good and evil." Our meetings are open to all residents. Whether you come to share your ideas or just listen and see what Book Club is all about, you are most welcome. The July selection is The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony and Graham Spence.
