You may also notice that the tennis board approved purchase of new ball hoppers for the north and south courts. The old ones had been donated and repaired numerous times. April was a difficult month trying to do the mixed doubles proved just to hard, the weather did not cooperate. Rumor has it that next year will not be a problem Sun Lakes is going to enclose and air condition all six courts on the south side. Keep an eye open for the grand opening. (In my dreams I think this is possible.) Saturday Mixer on the 6th at 8 am, come and meet new players and start your own group at your level. This is always fun and the balls and snacks are provided for by the club. Donations are welcome to offset the cost and improve the menu. Charity Week, we are hosting Four Seasons to a match on June 8 proceeds to go to the weeks charities. Last year was a great success and we hope that we have even a bigger turn out this year. So come and enjoy the tennis and the food. Wed., June 17 at 5 pm is the monthly tennis mixer followed by pizza and beer on the Veranda. Sign up sheets are at the South Clubhouse. Cost is still $5 for members remember to put your check in the lock box. No refunds. Friday Night Lights is coming to Sun Lakes! June 17 will be the first kick off on the courts. The plan is for some fast paced mixed doubles tennis and a potluck to match. Sally Jo is working hard to make this another tennis club success. Watch for the fliers and more information. World Team Tennis is just another way to get involved in tennis at Sun Lakes, contact Kelly Curtis if you want to get in on the fun. Mixed Doubles Championships Thurs., June 25, and Fri., June 26 sign in is at 6 pm, play starts at 6:30 pm. On Sat., June 27, sign in is at 9:30 am play starts at 10 am. Fundraising BBQ starts at 11:15 am all are welcome. Sun., June 28 play starts at 10 am, with presentation immediately after the last match. Spectators are welcome. We have an active club for both players and fans of the game. Watch for future clinics to encourage new players or ones just wanting to improve their skills. Information will come to you by email or notices on the club bulletin boards so keep an eye out.
