16 | sun lakes lIfestyles | July 2015 | soCIal Clubs & groups As we celebrate our country's independence, let us appreciate the wonderful life we enjoy at Sun Lakes. Our July dinner dance will be held on Sat., July 18. We will be listening to the fun and varied music of Skyline Express, who will play from 6 to 9:30 pm. Since we are in the heat of the summer, "dressy-casual" will be the suggested attire for the evening. There will be a free, half hour dance given by John & Rosa Gascoigne starting at 5:30 pm. Our mouth-watering menu sounds so refreshing. We will begin with a fresh fruit salad followed by your choice of one of the entrees. 1) Chicken kabobs on a bed of wild rice and served with broccoli for $20. 2) The vegetarian choice is eggplant Parmesan served with broccoli for $19. 3) Shrimp Louie for $21. The dessert will be cannoli. I need to also remind members that July is our membership renewal month. Membership is $100 for a couple and $50 for a single. Please bring your membership check to the annual meeting on Thurs., July 9, at 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room or mail it to Pat Rothenberger at 4833 Rolling Hills Ave. New officers will be taking over after the July meeting. August is our first month of Dinner Dance Club's new year. Sign ups for the July dinner dance will be Thurs., July 9 right after the annual meeting in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Table selections will begin at that time. If you sign up for the dance but find that you are unable to attend, please contact Carla 797-3506 to make arrangements to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Keep those feet dancing! Dinner Dance Club There are no scheduled functions in July, but we are getting ready for a new season starting with our August dance. To all residents, if you think you might have an interest in the Country Western Dance Club, we will have a FREE introductory dance in August. No charge or obligation. This introductory dance gives you an opportunity to learn about our club and its activities. We will teach one or two very basic line dances and a basic couples dance. Our introductory dance will be Fri., Aug. 28, at 7 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. So, come learn a dance or just come to watch if you prefer. During the year our club offers instructions for both line dancing and couples dances as well as having our open dances on Friday nights in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. In September, we will restart our instructions for line dances and couples with basic beginner dances, so don't be shy, come and give it a try. Check the Country Western article in Lifestyles for time and place. Have questions or want more information? Call Joe or Jean (951) 769-9148. Our dance club is truly unique because we have activities for everyone, both singles and couples. You can come to learn a dance, have a good time and meet some new friends, and always feel welcome.
