Dig out your grass skirts and Hawaiian leis. We are having a Dinner Dance Luau Party. We are hosting the Mainstreet Swing Band who will play 6 to 9 pm on Thurs., Aug. 6. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Menu; Choice of pulled pork or teriyaki chicken served with fried rice, green beans almondine, Hawaiian sweet rolls, mixed greens with mandarin oranges and caramelized pecans. Dessert is pineapple sherbet with a macadamia nut cookie. The cost is $24 pp members, $28 pp guests. Those wanting to sit together, please bring checks and complete the sheet with all names to early sign up on July 23 from 1-2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room or you can mail or drop off at 4932 Rolling Hills (Northside). We follow the same format each year as our members enjoy it and participate in the spirit of things as Chek Tham leads the Military Veterans of the various services in a march around the ballroom floor. This will follow the pledge of allegiance that everyone does and starts our evening along with photo taking of members, July birthdays, and marriage anniversaries. Evelyn Hawkins Stardust Dancers will perform their military routine, which ends this part of our evening. Mark your calendar for the second Thursday evening in July, you don't want to miss this Red White and Blue evening. Doors to the ballroom open at 5:30 pm, music starts at 6 pm by Global Affair. Buffet starts at 6:30 pm by table call and will feature some All-American favorites; pork ribs, fried chicken, potato salad, green beans with real bacon bits. A pre-set green dinner salad of tomatoes/cucumbers/shredded carrots with ranch and Italian dressings, along with corn bread and butter with honey packets and a dessert of blue velvet cup cakes with white frosting/red and blue sprinkles along with coffee is all table served. You can sign up for this special evening on the first Thursday afternoon in July at 3 pm North Clubhouse. $22 for members, $25 for Non-Resident guest. International Culture Club Our Festival of Dances and International Fashion Show is Sat., Aug. 15 at 7 pm and Sun., Aug. 16 at 3 pm. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased now. Please stop by our table in the Main Clubhouse lobby between 9 am and 2 pm any day this week for best table selection. Ticket sales will continue next week (July 6-10) same location, same hours, Monday through Friday… or until we sell out. Our show is unique: Dances from Hawaii, Mexico, Spain, China, Korea, India and the Philippines, modeled fashions and costumes from 20 plus countries, special guest performers and a 50/50 raffle.
