The Yucaipa Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #2389 Lodge is at 12165 Second St. in Yucaipa. Meetings are second and fourth Thursdays. The Elks promote charitable programs focused on youth and assistance for handicapped children and are renowned for generosity. Bill Daley is this year's exalted ruler. The Lodge is also popular for its fundraising bingo games. For other activities, contact the Lodge at 797-7111. Yucaipa VisionQuest — The Center for Creativity fosters arts and sciences in Yucaipa. It's goals are to promote art and artists, musicians,writers, dancers, actors, storytellers and inventors. There is a wide array of classes in painting, jewelry making and basketry. Centered at the Gallery at VisionQuest, at 35136 Ave. A, Vision Quest offers displays of local artwork, as well as a gift shop and the new studio. Yucaipa Vision Quest is a nonprofit corporation operated by a volunteer board of directors. VisionQuest features creative ideas, achievements and inventions from all fields. The Legion offers support and recreation for its members and opens its doors to the public for special events and lunches. The Post and its Auxiliary provide programs and holiday events for the community, especially Memorial Day services. Post members also provide assistance to its veterans. The Yucaipa Masonic Fellowship Lodge is located at 13669 California St. Regular meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month with dinner at 6:30 pm, followed by the meeting at 7:30 pm. Jackson Brown Jr. The Yucaipa Youth Advisory Committee is composed of up to 15 youth members, one non-voting adult member, and two City Council members (to serve as non-voting liaisons). Members must be residents of, or attending school in the City of Yucaipa. Terms are approximately one year, typically beginning Oct. 1 and expiring before the school year is out, occurring approximately one year after his or her appointment with the possibility of a one year extensions. The Yucaipa Woman's Club is the oldest service organization in town having originated in 1911. Most of the local benefit organizations were formed through the efforts of the Yucaipa Woman's Club. Members continue to work to provide many philanthropic services — including scholarships, teen program assistance, financial support of the Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, the Pat Elliott Scholarship at Crafton Hills College, Yucaipa Outreach, Family Assistance, Veterans Assistance and more.
