12 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2015 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel LEASH LAWS Community and city codes require that dogs be on a leash when not in your yard or your house. Some residents have complained to the Lodge about dogs running or walking in the vicinity of their owners without leashes. For your pet's safety and the safety of others around your pet, be sure your dog is attached to you with a leash that gives you good control. TRASH PICK UP Since the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year, there will not be a delay in our waste management pickup on Tuesday. Important reminders from Waste Management include: Place all waste in the appropriate container and close the lid. All trash, recyclables and green waste outside of the cart will not be collected. Place your carts at the curb by 6 am on your collection day. Emptied carts must be removed from curbside by sundown. Roll carts into the street and place them against the curb, handles facing your home. Place carts at least two feet apart from other carts and objects. Do not place green waste in plastic bags. Please remember when you put your trash bins out for pickup that the bins need to be a minimum of two feet apart — otherwise the truck pickup arms do not have enough space to work. If you don't want to get up at 6 am, you can have the bins out by 5 pm on Monday. If the wind is strong, however, you might want to shelter them in place until the next morning. SMITTY'S The Bistro will be closed from July 17 to 20 while Smitty and family take a much needed vacation. EVENT TIME CHANGES To all clubs, groups, interest groups, physical exercise groups: please choose one person to communicate any changes of meeting and event times and dates to the Lodge desk. We have had a problem with individuals sending in conflicting change forms – within a few days of each other. This makes it very difficult to maintain a current schedule when even the participants do not agree. Make sure one person communicates with the Lodge desk! K. HOVNANIAN PLANS Remember that Kevin Metcalf is meeting with residents at 12:45 pm on BOD meeting dates to answer questions about K. Hovnanian build-outs. If you want to find out about what is happening to the Edison Beautification Project or any other question you have about K. Hovnanian plans, please send your questions in to the Lodge Desk by the Tuesday prior to the BOD meeting and your mystery will be solved. NEW HOA BOARD LIASONS The HOA Board members who act as Liaison with Board committees have changed because we have a new BOD member. Please take a few minutes to see which director is on which committee. The information is on page four of this issue of the Breeze. Our thanks to the previous liaison members – and best wishes to the incoming BOD member. There is a lot to learn about being a director. It is not an easy task! WALKING IN THE STREET At the May Board of Directors General Session residents were reminded not to run or walk in the streets. Our senior drivers are easily distracted. In the past year drivers in Four Seasons have hit six trees, an irrigation meter box, a fence, a fire hydrant and at least one light pole. We have also had some close calls with residents walking before the sun is up or at night wearing dark clothing. Please be cautious. Wear light colored protective clothing if you must walk during nighttime hours. The dangers of walking in the streets at any time outweigh any possible benefits. Thoughts for the day: "I love my pillow because it gives me different hairstyles every day!" "When people tell me 'You're gonna regret that in the morning' I sleep in until noon because I'm a problem solver."
