9 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2015 | Blue Thong Society The Blue Thong Society is an international women's social organization which is also philanthropically based. I have been the Chapter Director here at Four Seasons, Hemet for seven and a half years. Our chapter members have been volunteering our time supporting the Hemet Food Pantry and the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program. More recently, we have been working to support the Homeless Veterans at March Air Force Base. Last year we collected and assembled 150 bags of hygiene items for the Homeless Veterans. Our chapter will be collecting items again this year, and our goal is to prepare at least 100 of these hygiene kits for distribution to these deserving individuals. Below is a list of items needed: Items can be in travel size or purchased at the Dollar Tree or 99 cent stores • Shampoo • Bar soaps or body wash • Shaving lotion and razors • Body lotion • Toothpaste and toothbrushes and dental floss • Mouthwash • Deodorant • Toilet paper or wipes • Combs • Wash cloths and towels (new or gently used) Anyone wishing to donate may bring these items to the Lodge for collection. One of our chapter members will make daily checks to gather what has been donated. Later, our chapter members will hold a work party to assemble the hygiene kits. Most likely, we will be doing this on Wed., July 22 or Thurs., July 23. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support! ~ Karen Brown, chapter director, Blue thong Society, Hemet, chapter, "diamonds in the ruff " There are 17 Four Seasons at Hemet residents who are members of the local chapter of the Assistance League. "The Assistance League of Hemacinto, is a nonprofit organization that celebrates the power of the volunteer to evoke positive change in the world. Our volunteers are dedicated to serving the children of the San Jacinto Valley. Since its inception in 1976 over 29,000 underprivileged students have received new school clothing through the main philanthropic program, Operation School Bell®. It is one of several projects sponsored by the chapter. On March 22 many of the chapter members participated in the "Taste of Elegance" fundraiser held at the Lodge and which benefited the Operation School Bell program. In October they plan to sell desserts during the "Car-toberfest" car show. Once again, the proceeds will go towards purchasing school clothing for children in need who live in our community. The Assistance League is a fun and worthwhile organization to belong to and a great way to make friends. "New members are welcomed all year long. If you have a few extra hours a week, and want to make a difference, please consider joining Assistance League." For more information sign onto the website at www.hemacintoassistanceleague.org .
