Bridge for Fun We want to invite any new and experienced players to Bridge for Fun. We meet Wednesdays at 11:30 am. Check at the front desk of the Lodge to see where we are playing till the loud echo noises are worked out of the card rooms. Candice Parrish at (951) 845-0942 can help you with beginning lessons or refer you to a beginning duplicate trainer. Candice is great and has a gift of sensing our skills. In fact we're all great! We play bridge in a party format rotating partners and tables. Feel free to discuss your questions and conventions with this group. Congratulations to Lylia and Sandy U. for first and second place trophies for the Fourth of July contest. Cindy and staff organized a great program and plenty of food. The publishing staff always produces an outstanding Breeze publication - the pics and arrangement are wonderful because everything fits and looks good! Co Chairs Verina (951) 769-1681 and Phil (951) 922-2525. ~ Dr. Phil Bridge All level of bridge players are welcome. We play on Mondays at noon in the Lodge. If you are interested in learning to play the game, please call Helen Shoemate at (951) 845-9312 for time and specific location. We play party type bridge where we rotate partners after five or six hands. This enables you to meet and play with different people. Most of us use standard American as convention of choice. Some do try other conventions but only if both parties agree up front. The classes are growing and expanding to two sessions a week. We thank Bill Guy for the time and effort he has put into our Bridge group. We wish him well as he pursues other endeavors. ~ Gordon Shepard Canasta #1 Join us for an afternoon of friendship and fun while playing a game of Hand and Foot Canasta. We meet in the Card Room every Thursday afternoon, 1 to 4 pm. Each week you may play with someone different, giving you an opportunity to meet other Four Seasons residents and old friends who enjoy an afternoon of "cool" cards. Plus, the Bistro is just down the hall if you would like a snack or a cold drink. We supply the cards so all you have to bring is your body and the desire to have a little fun. If you don't know how to play we are always happy to set up a teaching table and by the time the afternoon is over you will have mastered the game. All you have to do is show up and leave the rest to us. ~ Melody Seewoster Bunco This month we will playing Bunco on Aug. 14 and 28. If you have never played Bunco you need to come and give it a try. It is a very simple dice game that can be played with little concentration which makes it easy to play and socialize too. It is a great way to meet some new friends. We meet in the Card Room at 1pm sharp. So invite a friend or neighbor and join us. Don't forget to grab a drink at Smitty's or maybe even lunch beforehand. See you there. ~ Cheryl Burke & Suzanne Roldan Mah Jongg Everybody is welcome to join us for Mah Jongg at 12:30 pm on Mondays in the 1528 Building. We accept beginners and offer coaching for those who have not played in several years. A current Mah Jongg card is required but you can borrow or copy one until you get your own. You do not have to own a Mah Jongg set to join the fun, so come on out! ~ Barbara Boodreau Pinochle Pinochle is an exciting card game where you bid and bluff to name trump and take control of the game. This game is played with a double deck of special cards of ace through 10 against other aficionados, to tease your mind, and keep you sharp. Come join the game on Wednesday and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Card Room. Newbies and oldies are welcome for fun and socializing. Info., George Soeten, (951) 797-0254. ~ George Soeten We are looking for players, substitute players, and people who are interested in learning the game. I am happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn the game, either individually or in a small group, your home or mine. Pan is a card game, much on the order of gin in some respects, and played with up to eight people at a table. It is played by both men and women, so men are very welcome as well as women. The game can be played in the day, evening, in a room in the Lodge or in private homes. If you are interested, please call me, Linda Mendelson, at (951) 941-9100 or email me at Goldtoy@earthlink.net and I will answer any questions you may have. As all card games, it is played with both skill and luck. ~ Linda Mendelson Pan 40 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2015
