27 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | August 2015 | From the President – Gerry Edmonds: Once each year the Golf Club conducts a charity golf tournament benefiting an organization that services our community in some manner. This year the Board selected the Sunshine Team for their outstanding contributions to Hemet 4 Seasons. The date for this year's event is Tues., Aug. 11. If you have not already done so, please make plans to participate in this scramble and help raise funds for this great organization. The last Tuesday of the month will be a qualifying round for the Founders' Cup golf tournament that begins in September. The Founders' Cup is a match play tournament that takes four weeks to crown the champions for each flight. The format always provides for exciting golf and rewards golfers who play consistently well. Check your calendars for the month of September to ensure you can play each of the four Tuesdays and sign up for the qualifying round. Lastly, congratulations go out to Perry McNicol for a hole-in- one on the par three 17th hole during Club play in June. Also congratulations to club members Javier Parada, Mike Webster and Steve Wallace who each recently carded holes-in-one during play with other groups on the Hemet Golf Course. From the Handicap Chair – Lynn Smith: Two basic premises underline the USGA Handicap System, namely that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round, regardless of where the round is played, and that the player will post every acceptable round for peer review. The player and the player's Handicap Committee have joint responsibility for adhering to these premises. Your Handicap Index compares a player's scoring ability to the scoring ability of a scratch golfer on a course of standard difficulty. From the Rules Chair – Melody Lewis: This month I will discuss rules issues that have come up during the year. There have been quite a few instances that needed attention.
