Joanne La Pointe and Debbie Wheeler did not disappoint with their well-trained voices, their bubbly personalities and the beautiful renditions of so many of our favorite musical theater and classical tunes. My favorite song they sang was the "Flower Duet," which was spot on with their gorgeous harmonies and then as an interesting arrangement was immediately followed by "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." The whole show was such a good variety of skill, humor and surprise. Good job Social Committee and especially Toni Finer who was the Event Chair for this event. The desserts were delicious and were the perfect frosting on a delightfully sweet evening. Next in September will be the big Holiday Harvest Craft Fair. This is always a lot of fun, with tons of participation including shoppers from outside the gates getting in on all of the unique gift items at great prices. This year the Craft Fair will be on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 9 am to 2 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. All guests are welcome and there is no entrance fee to shop. Prizes will be given away throughout the day, so that will really make it fun. Next will be our Amphitheater Grand Finale on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 7 pm with the music of Barry McGuire. This promises to bring back a lot of memories from the 1960s and 1970s. Special "door-less" prizes will be given out to celebrate this event as well. What a great season of music we've had this season. Good job Amphitheater Production Group! How about a nice fall clean up for the ol' garage and closets? Start thinking about it because our last HOA Garage Sale of the year is on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8 am to 2 pm. This garage sale will only be at individual's homes and perhaps in one section of the Lodge Ballroom if there are items that the Association would like to make available to residents for purchase (check with us later as the time gets nearer). Sign ups will start on Sept. 15 at the Lodge desk. The price for participation is $7 and includes both your city garage sale permit and outside advertising. To complete the summer festivities we have an evening of "Magic in the Movie Theater" on Saturday, Sept. 26. This is a great show to bring your friends to, including your small grandkid-like friends. This is at no cost to you, however a "donation location" will be set up for those of you who would like to help with the volunteer magicians' gasoline expenses to get here. Please look for the two confirmed show times at the Lodge and sign up for the show you would prefer to attend starting Monday, Sept. 21. It's been a great summer and I look forward to spending the holidays with you. See you around the Lodge! Activities Director Corner By Cindy Graves, Activities Director caleNDar fOr 2015
