Welcome to your Four Seasons library! We certainly hope you are one of the residents that are continuously reading and donating books to our fantastic room of books! Our fiction section has had a lot of activity lately. You certainly have many new choices from the recent generosity of residents. Have you visited the Hemet Library downtown? I wrote about the different programs available last month. We only have the room to display three months of magazines. When we received outdated ones they are donated to the Hemet library and are put out for anyone to take---free! What to do if you have two years of Oprah Magazines? Make that short trip and discover that beautiful building. At this time please bring July, August and September for us to display. We are still waiting for our National Geographic magazines to return. Our committee is comprised of volunteers living in Four Seasons who enjoy reading and have a desire to keep our 55 plus library in order. It takes a full village to accomplish that. There is an unwritten rule that if you are on the committee and you are at the Lodge you need to check the library before you leave. In one day we might have three committee members working 30-45 minutes at different times to put it back in order. Some residents want to be helpful and shelve the books donated. We need to stamp and date them so please just put them in the return box. Thanks so much. We appreciate you and love hearing that you appreciate our hard working volunteers! Our paperback books are displayed from 2011-2015. All others are taken downtown. I just recently donated my whole series of Janet Evanavick's Stephanie Plum's mysteries to the Hemet library. It was great to have them from one and up. The first few books were her best. I have had other residents ask that we display a series in paperback but we are limited in space. Please take only two to three books at a time. We have residents asking for certain books that they have been waiting for and it doesn't come back for two-three weeks, or never. See if you still have one of our books at home. We would appreciate it. Our library directory was completed outdated. We removed the Guidelines and Directory to update them. The rules will be easy but we recently purchased a new computer and the directory file was not transferred. It will be re-created shortly. Keep those audio CD'S coming. And, it would be great to have some of our children's movies returned. VCR tapes are just not needed anymore. They have become a thing of the past. There are wonderful movies on DVD that can be checked out at the front desk. Until next month, happy reading. Committee member Cookie read The Bat by Jo Nesbo. I have read one or two other books by Jo Nesbo with the character "Harry Hole." This book is the beginning book for this character. His books are translated from Norwegian script so many of the words are different for us. Inspector Harry Hole, of the Oslo Crime Squad, is sent to Sydney Australia to observe a murder case involving a Norwegian woman. Harry has strict orders to stay out of trouble and only be on the sidelines. No involvement. If Harry listened to his boss it would be a boring book. Harry doesn't, he gets into everything. This is a murder mystery filled with twists and turns and colorful characters. Harry was teamed up with Andrew Kensington of the Sydney police. Andrew was an Aboriginal man. You will find a prominent character is a clown, Otto, full of surprises. The book paints a wonderful picture of Australia. And you will travel through much of the country. Harry has a great love interest with a woman, Birgitta. He also loves alcohol, perhaps more than Birgitta! Keep in mind that this is a murder mystery. And, there is more than one. Take time to read this book. I still don't know how I feel about Harry but you won't see this ending coming. The very last chapter gives the best insight to Harry, just maybe he is okay.
