By the time you receive the September Lifestyles Magazine, we will have crowned our champion! The current end of July leaders are team number three, Bowldacious composed of Ken Elsing, Madonna O'Donovan, Mike Draney, and Micki Elsing. Team number one, "Summer Fun," Dick Taylor, Lois Preston, Lisa Park and Dianne Everley were one game back, with Team five "Lucky Strikes" in third place. Terry Brown, Tom Tykodi, Howard Esterson and Bill Osretkar make up this contender. The friendly competition is expected to become very intense in the final three weeks ahead. Sweepstakes and the season end banquet luncheon will close out the summer league. Sun Lakes residents top three high games for men scratch are: Howard Esterson 246, , Bob McLean 245 and Jim McCallum 222. Women's top three scratch games are Louise Deal 204, Carolyn Gagnon 197 and Lisa Park 187. Men's high scratch series Bob McLean 651, Bill Osretkar 575, John Shubert 553. Women's high scratch series, Dianne Everley 535, Micki Elsing 492, Sue Shubert 484. We will be starting winter league immediately after the end of summer league and invite new bowlers to join in the fun. Info., Dianne, 323-6001. Sun Lakers III After leading all summer, the team of Ginger and George Chavez, Donna Reed and R Struchen emerged with a one game lead to capture the 15 week season over the Pickups (Lu Seymour, Lisa Koerbel, Carolee Matthews and Lonnie Brown. The Pinbusters (Dottie and George Johsz, Herb Watson & Gene Sax) climbed from last place to gain third in a rapid finish over the last six weeks. The 4 surprises (Mae Brock, Curly Mann and Hal Taylor) completed the top 4 spots. Final team scoring leaders included: High Scratch Series: The Green Machine 2343 (LaWanda & Ray Roberson, Mel Green & Jim McGowan); High Scratch Game: The Almosts (Paul Wojton,Burt Garbell, Emil & Ida Nily) 743; High Handicap Series Pinbusters 2738; High Handicap Game In The Pocket 944 (Blanche Dennis, Jim and Nancy Brown and Bud Miner); Individual Scoring Leaders included: Scratch Series, Ray Roberson, 729 and Jerry Schneider, 538; Scratch Game: Jim McGowan, 257 and Ida Nily, 215; Handicap Series: George Johsz 731 and Dottie Johsz 702; Handicap Game, George Chavez, 274, and Ginger Chavez 263. The league closes with a very special thank you for Jerry Schneider for her 15 years of service as secretary and to Hal Taylor for his five years as president. The fall/winter league gets underway on Sept. 2 and will be an open league to any senior 55 or over (no longer closed to Sun Lakers only).
