36 | sun lakes lifestyles | OCtOBeR 2015 | The Fall Tournament is well under way, with 93 teams playing four days a week. Adding Thursday has made it possible to schedule that many teams in a four-hour time span. Thanks to all the teams who were willing to move to the new day, many of whom are new to the game. We are rapidly approaching a membership of 500, making us the largest sports club in Sun Lakes! Our annual Italian Dinner is Oct. 18, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Doors open at 3:30 pm, meeting at 4 pm and dinner at 4:30 pm. The meal includes beer, soda and wine. Cost to members is $15 pp, $22 for non- members. The club pays the $7 difference for each member. We've been promised a much better meal this year! To make reservations, put your check/checks in an envelope with the names of those attending on the outside of the envelope and take it to 1288 Pleasant Valley. There is a box at the door. The playing times change this in October, moving to 3, 4, 5, and 6 pm. REFEREES: if you currently ref at 5 and 6 pm your times will now be 3 and 4 pm. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce Fall weather is soon approaching and a more ideal time of year for outdoor sports. Plans are in motion for the Men's October Pickleball Tournament which is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 10, followed by our fall party, scheduled at the North Clubhouse on Sat., Oct. 17. Further details on the tournament and party will be posted on the bulletin board adjacent to the courts. We hope this cooler weather will bring out some new players, especially our newer Sun Lakes residents. We offer loaner equipment for both Pickleball and Pop (Paddle) Tennis and encourage anyone interested to stop by the courts any morning of the week to see what Pickleball and Pop Tennis are all about. Pickleball is played every morning, Mon. through Sat., at 7:30 am and Pop Tennis is played Tues., Thurs. and Fri. at 7:30 am and Tues. & Thurs. evenings at 6 pm.
