FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2015 41 In August the domino group held the championship dinner for Leroy Wright. Those mighty good, "cowboy beans," prepared by Jim Stover were served along with turkey sausage, fruit and cake. Everything was real nice. Thank you Jim Stover. The domino winner for the month of August was Lee Harris with 21 wins. In Second place was Solomon Hayes with 20 wins. Jesse Dimmer and Wondell Collins came in third tied with 17 game wins each. Outstanding game playing by everyone. Looks like we will be having some homemade chili real soon! Domino games now start counting at 6 pm, instead of 7 pm, toward the monthly domino championship. This change was voted on and passed at the last meeting. From 5 pm to 6 pm, practice and open games can be played for fun. Everyone is welcome to come out and play and have a good time. The Domino Group meets every Wednesday and Friday from 5 to 9 pm in the Lodge Game Room. For more information call Jesse at (951) 769-2035 or Reggie at (951) 769-6483. Come out and play and enjoy yourself and make some new friends. ~ Marvin A. Gaines Dominoes Canasta #1 Join us for an afternoon of friendship and fun while playing a game of Hand and Foot Canasta. We meet in the Card Room every Thursday afternoon, 1 to 4 pm. Each week you may play with someone different, giving you an opportunity to meet other Four Seasons residents and old friends who enjoy an afternoon of "cool" cards. Plus, the Bistro is just down the hall if you would like a snack or a cold drink. We supply the cards so all you have to bring is your body and the desire to have a little fun. If you don't know how to play we are always happy to set up a teaching table and by the time the afternoon is over you will have mastered the game. All you have to do is show up and leave the rest to us. ~ Melody Seewoster During our meeting in the month of September a guest speaker from Weaver Mortuary Beaumont met with us to discuss advance planning for funerals and cremation. We would like to thank them for joining us and sharing such important information with our family, friends and neighbors. Thank you also to our own Johnetta Driscoll for her notary support. Our own Roxie Elliott hosted a boot camp to discuss more important information regarding Trusts, Health Directives, Last Will and Testaments, etc. This boot camp was also opened to all of our neighbors, family members and friends. Due to the depth of information discussed there will be a Part II held during our next meeting Monday, Nov. 2. Thank you also to our own Johnetta Driscoll for her notary support. As most of us have experienced upon entering the hospital these days, one of the first things ask of us is do you have a health directive? The presentations reminded us of, "prior and proper planning to prevent a poor performance." Mindful Information to remember: • Be a good neighbor, if you haven't seen your neighbor in a while check in on them. • Exchange phone numbers of contact people with people you trust. Remember things can happen really quickly. Reservations are still be accepting for our Christmas/Holiday party. If you are planning to attend, please contact one of the following members: Wondell Collins at (951) 845-7263, Delene (Dee) Houston at (951) 205-0972 and Johnetta Driscoll at (951) 922-6039. The cost is $50 per person, the time is flying, reservations will be gone before you know it. Sept. 13 was National Grandparents Day! What a blessing to have them in our lives. This covers great and grand aunts and uncles, godparents, and all those who have played a part in raising our children. We all are family. Interested in traveling? There is a trip scheduled to visit the Black Firemen museum in Los Angeles. Do you enjoy going on a turnaround trip to the State Line border? More and more trips are being planned, call Betty Ann for more information at (951) 572-5538. Happy Birthday to all of our August and September members! Our next scheduled meeting will be Monday, Nov. 2, at 6 pm. For more information, please contact Betty Ann James at (951) 572-5538. See you all there! ~ Ms. Wanda Valentine African American Culture Club
