FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2015 43
The relatively cooler breeze of early September afternoons and the courts
under the shade of the surrounding trees made the game more enjoyable.
For most, paddle tennis has become an addictive game and members
seldom miss a day of showing up at the court. Paddle tennis is the fastest
growing racket sport in the world. Its popularity has grown across Spain
and other European countries such as Belgium, Austria, France, Amsterdam,
the United Kingdom and Italy. It is believed that more than two million
Argentinians play paddle tennis, making it one of the most popular sports
played in that country.
More recently, paddle tennis has really taken off in other South American
countries and has also become very popular in the US and Canada. When
it was first introduced in Spain in the 1970s, it was mainly played by the
upper classes; these days it is played by people of any age or social status,
making it a game that the whole family can enjoy together (source:
vivalanguageservices.co.uk/blog/popular-spanish-sport-padel-paddle-
tennis/). Paddle tennis is thought to be more intense and fun than tennis
and perhaps a little easier to play. We certainly enjoy it here at Four Seasons.
Come and join us! The PTC open play time is Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
and Sundays 6 to 9 pm and Fridays and Sundays from 8:30 to 10:30 am. If
