FOUR SEASONS SPOTLIGHT 6 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2015 By Patty Jordan In early November, nearly 700 Four Seasons residents and their guests enjoyed "Seasons" (The Musical), written, produced and directed by our own Eileen Gilbert. The play took us through the four seasons of our lives, following four close friends as they evolved from teenagers to happy retirees at our Four Seasons community. The scene was set when Activities Director Cindy Graves sang, very beautifully, the opening verse of Joni Mitchell's "The Circle Game" while two of Eileen's granddaughters showed us the carefree play of childhood. The story begins in 1960 when the four friends, Annie, Beth, Dixie and Mary, played by Zelyne Rudolph, Dianne Kemp, Linda Lambeth and Janet McAdamis, let us know that while life at 15 was fun, they were very eager to move on to a very romanticized adulthood. Grandpa D, played by Tom Shelley, tells the girls that every stage of life is like a season, and that while they are in their spring now, things will inevitably change as they move through summer, fall and winter. In this lighthearted opening scene, we met T.J., played by a tie- dye shirt and afro wearing Pete Antoine, who rides in on a bike and playfully charms everyone, except for the object of his affections, Annie, who only wants to focus on growing up to be a successful lawyer. Between each scene Cindy sang the next appropriate verse of "The Circle Game," introducing the next season of the friends' lives. In 1975, Annie is a hardworking lawyer and the other three are very pregnant, very tired and stressed moms. The next two scenes show us the fall and winter of the friends' lives and at the end there are four couples, including the newly engaged Annie and T.J., happily planning their golden years together at Four Seasons Beaumont. It was obvious that a lot of work went into this production with scene changes, music, and lots of lines to memorize. Two of the women, Linda Lambeth and Janet McAdamis had never performed in public before and Eileen had to reassure them that they could actually act, sing and dance successfully. With Eileen's support, and coercion, they got past the nerves and gave terrific performances, blending perfectly with the more experienced performers, Zelyne and Dianne. Janet admitted that while she was very nervous about performing, it was something that she had long dreamed of doing. Several years ago Eileen produced another very successful show, "Gramma Mia." When asked how things have changed technically since then, she responded, "Oh my word! The stage is bigger, the lights are much better, and then there is the sound! With upgraded equipment and tech experts, everything went off without a hitch!" When Eileen was asked if she has another play or musical percolating in that creative mind of hers, her answer was, "Yes, a couple of them actually." We will happily look forward to a new show in the future. Additional cast members were Tina Soeten, Bob Jernejcic, Jerry Mathews, Colin Taylor, Rochelle and David Holt, Claudeen and Juan Diaz, Shirley Caldwell and Minnie Lathrop. Stan Sweeney was the Technical Director working with assistants Michael Rothberg and Andy Shipper. Set Manager Jim Stover worked with assistants Eileen Gerety and Al Gray. Props were capibly handled by Joye Lyon and Marcia Skeeters. Nelly Alcocer created the tickets and programs and Charlie Leger built the picket fence. Four Seasons residents enjoyed performing in and watching the performance. And The Seasons, They Go Round & Round
