Get out and 'let the wind blow the stink off you' as my mother used to say! I don't even want to remember how many years ago that was. I remember her trying, in vain, to fold a fitted sheet. Anyway, the time has come to rejoin the Friends of Bocce Club. Membership to the club runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Cost is still $12 pp. Joining makes you eligible to substitute if you are not on a team. Many members think they have to be on the alternate list to substitute — NOT TRUE! It also gets you into our free Pizza Dinner Gala in April, with beer, wine and soda included. Such a deal! Anyway… The Winter Tournament runs only seven weeks after taking time off for the holidays. Yes, it can get chilly and windy, but, unless you are a long-suffering referee, you're only on the courts for one chilly hour! DRESS WARM! You can always take something off!! Actually, last winter, we wore shorts most of the time. With El Nino moving in, who knows what the Pass is in for. If you choose to sign up for the Winter Tournament, keep in mind the deadline for entries is Jan. 8, play beginning Jan. 18. ALL TEAMS signing up will need to fill out the small card with teammates names, phone numbers etc., available in the bocce shed or from Dutch (845-0392). Include the card with the $12 club dues for each team member along with $3 team fee, totaling $60, per team. That is a once-a-year payable charge — each Tournament, thereafter, is $3 each, team fee.
