36 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2015 | As we near the end of yet another record year of membership growth, the club is, as always, looking for new and/or experienced paddle tennis, and pickleball players to join us in playing both of these great sports. Recently, our club had its annual fall party, with 55 club members and guests in attendance. We had great food provided by Johnny Russo's, and marvelous vocal entertainment provided by Sun Lakes' own Sheila and Larry James. Sheila and Larry performed a wide variety of music, from easy listening, and oldies but goodies, to romantic music for the youngsters (Fran and Bill Rayner come to mind) Many thanks to Dan Cosner for his work in getting the catering finalized and the food served, to Debbie Prichett and Heidi Kliewer for their marvelous decorations, and to Nick Caputo for having run a great pickleball tournament the week before. We further thank Wade Sampson for both his service to the club, and for lining up Sheila & Larry to provide the entertainment, and finally to Nancy Ebner, the club's "Acting President," for having overseen everything. All of you Sun Lakers out there, please stop by the courts adjacent to the Golf Pro Shop, and let us show you the games that we love. You'll get some good exercise, have a little competition and meet some nice people. Regardless of your experience level, we can help get you started and help you meet people of your same experience level. The club has paddles for newcomers available for both paddle tennis and pickleball, so there is absolutely no reason to stay away. Paddle Tennis is played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 to 10 am, and pickleball is played six days a week, Monday through Saturday, from 8 to 10 am. Paddle tennis is a great game for all ages and abilities. As competitive as it can be, our players are all about the exercise and fellowship we gain from just playing for "fun." We welcome having people come to the courts and check out why we all make the effort, regardless of weather conditions, to come and enjoy all the benefits of the game. Paddle tennis is played Tues., Thurs. & Fri. at 8 am and Tues. & Thurs. evening at 6 pm and we provide paddles for anyone who needs them.
